Aqua Reward Credit Card - 3% cashback up to £100/year

They aren't abiding by the T&Cs - that is the reason I have been in touch with the Ombudsman. I have spent way over the amount required to earn £100 cashback and yet they have only paid £95. Simple
Way over the amount? By how much? There's a reason why this card is no longer on the market. I mean I must have spent £3400 - £3500 on this card over a year. I haven't spent more than that on this card0 -

Unfortunately I did pay interest on the card, which has eaten into my reward by £0.02. It does ring a bell.. I think somewhere along the line I made a purchase that turned out to be a cash advance (it was eBid which competes with eBay) and they were kind enough to refund the fees... but I paid 2p interest
Through the year I'd been unhappy with the £500 limit, and they eventually agreed to up it to £650 which still isn't enough to hold two month's spending on it - which is what you need if you pay the card in full each month.
I've just sent them a message through their internet banking site to ask if they can now review the credit limit again, and also to ask if they're going to be doing cashback over the next year of my card.
Hmm I got a really low £250 limit. It's pretty abysmalIm having to make FPI's to cover it
I can spend well over that amount. I'd be happy with a £1000 limit.0 -

Isn't it great to make money out of a credit card co? They've not had a penny out of me in interest or charges. The best bit is I've saved even more as the majority of my purchases are outside of the UK, so no fees or load for use or currency conversion. 😃
Hmm even after the cashback stopped (last "year" ) I continued to use it when I was buying things in USD on eBay, because of the favourable exchange rates
I do have a nationwide select card, and a n&p debit card, but tracking the exchange rates, mastercard *tend* to be ever so marginally cheaper than visa when it comes to exchange rates (We're talking 0.01 or 0.001 here) but every little helps0 -
Its amazing the amount of people who moan about their credit limit as they can use FP if they want to spend more than their limit in one month although not for goods costing more than the limit in one purchase. Be sensible and you might find in time they increase your limit. In the meantime be grateful you get 3% cashback.
Don't panic.. if say the amount of cashback should have been £99 and you only get back £95 this year as you will find you have £4 cashback credited for next year0 -

Agreed, even though I'm one of those moaning about the terrible limit! Limit or not, neither my Halifax Clarity or Nationwide Select pay any cashback on foreign spend, so Aqua wins by miles there, especially with 3%!0 -

I've been pre-loading since I got the card and now the card is blocked with credit. They said it's for a transaction I did but I can't filter out what it is and they can't help over the phone (useless). Will need to wait for the letter they sent. Won't be pre-loading ever again and use another card to buy over £250.
I was in credit (including whilst speaking to them on the phone) for weeks before hand, it was only one statement day it got blocked. Assuming you've got the letter by now (which they may as well delivery by hand it takes so long). They're currently 'making a decision' on my account.
I asked for a credit increase, and explained why. Then pre-loaded when they never bothered to reply.
As for the threat of closure in the letter, how did you get on? Technically they are perfectly entitled to close accounts for any reason, but preloading is essentially a minor breach of t&cs - Aqua could very easily send the funds back to where they came from with a warning not to do it again and problem solved.
It's not like it's cash loading at a paypoint store (where they'd then have genuine money laundering concerns). They can see full details of where the payment is from - an account in our own names is not a serious risk - despite the scripted complaints man insisting it was a major fraud issue!
So I'll go to FOS if they do close it, which from the guys attitude I assume they will.0 -

I have always slightly preloaded as I pay back more than required using FP but have never been in trouble as I don't buy goods which exceed my limits which has recently been raised to £5500 -
Did you get a statement generated whilst you were in credit? That seems to trigger it.

Well their security department is inconveniently open only during working hours (9-5 Mon to Fri). I paid for recorded delivery to send my documents across to them and they tried to call me today during working hours. I called back but surprise, surprise, it doesn't accept incoming calls.
With regards to the credit appearing on my statement, that happened shortly afterwards and I still got my monthly statement showing the credit. If I knew this would happen, I'd just use my debit card, sigh.
Called their useless customer service team who said their buddies in whatever department they're in, sent another letter out to me so I'll see what it says but I'll see if it works tomorrow in a shop, if not, I'm guessing they closed the account (although it's active online). I've done all they've asked and lost out in time and money but hope my cashback isn't affected. It's been nearly a month now...I have always slightly preloaded as I pay back more than required using FP but have never been in trouble as I don't buy goods which exceed my limits which has recently been raised to £550
I did that too but I asked for a limit increase and was rejected on the grounds of responsible lending (complete lies if you ask me) so I pre-loaded to buy a fridge as my one was busted and of all the days it got blocked a few days later. I have about £250 in there so I really hope I get at least that back.0
