Do some people get paid by cheque, such as those who pay in full each month?
Unlikely I would think. I always pay in full every month, and have had several cashback cards over the years. The cashback has always been credited to the card account, never sent as a cheque. Aqua may be different, but I doubt it.
You can request a "refund" of any credit amount on the account, and this may well come as a cheque, but you would have to ask for that specifically. Easier just to spend through it.

Thanks, I received the paper statement (despite requesting paperless a few months back lol) and it still showed the £100.

Anyway I rechecked online daily as you suggested & finally it showed up as a deduction on Friday.

    Many thanks & regards,
    Max

That is becuase they don't do paperless.

I also asked why they do not put the cashback totals on the online statements, and was told "I don't know but will pass it through for consideration".

I then asked why cashback totals are on the online statements but only if account holders have gone paperless,( as I am sure someone mentioned getting paperless statements), and was told they do not offer paperless at the moment, but will be doing so in about a months time..

I have just double checked my cashback and notice I was given £75 although my statement indicates my true cashback was £79.97. It is actually quite difficult to calculate the cashback as I also made payments on my card but when I returned the goods the money was returned direct to my bank. I also received a repayment back on to my card but after the cashback was awarded so I wonder if that will mean I am in a minus cashback next month. At the end of the day 3% is very good so I am happy to accept the slight cashback adjustment.

To be fair to Aqua I need to update my remarks... Although Aqua round down the annual cashback to the nearest £5 as I point out in my remarks above, I did notice that on this months statement I have been credited with the £4.97 to be added to the cashback I will receive this year, so looks like I will eventually get the full cashback earned last year.

It depends on the terms of the card.

I've had a cashback card for years - it's currently a Barclaycard but I think it started out as a MSDW card, and there have been many other owners in between.

During those years, the amount, frequency and payment methods have changed (sometimes even whilst with the same owner). I remember cashback was paid out in the form of a cheque for at least one period.

Aqua reward say they credit the cashback to the account, it's payable once per year and it can't be used to settle a minimum payment due.

I've gone paperless with a different Halifax CC recently, a service that's not been available for very long. These statements when they arrive are facsimile/PDF format - exact replicas in other words.

Maybe so, but AQUA are not using them yet and that was the point of my post, after all this is an AQUA thread.

Just to confirm, it is possible to buy something above your credit limit if you pre-load the card.

I recall there was some confusion about this - as even though it should be possible (although I know it's against t&cs etc), I don't think it was ever confirmed that it worked.

I had an outstanding balance that had maxed the card out. Wanted to buy something for £400, so chucked £400 on the card. I use the Egg Moneymanager and that showed £250 as available, but if you click into your Aqua statement I could see £400.09 available to spend.

Also impressed that it's instant! Adding the Aqua details to my main bank a/c so could potentially just ping money across for big purchases even whilst in store!

I was informed by Aqua that even if I topped up my limit I could still only spend the amount of my initial limit on one item i.e. so even though I had £400 in my balance I could still only buy an item up to £250. I have since increased my limit to £550
  • just an update..iv just had my 3rd statement, and 2 days later, received a letter informing of an increase from £250 to £1050

That's what it suggests in the Egg MM page, but when you actually click through it shows the total available, and pratically every other card would let you spend that.

Messed my figures up a bit, forgot I had another item added on - it was a £409 auth yesterday - my limit is £250. Think I've missed/not been given any increase too! :( It was opened 03/13 - I should have one by now!?

So safely onto cashback year 2...but I had forgotten what a faff juggling a 250 credit limit is with the need to preload for big purchases and repay on a daily basis.

I assume that any request for a credit limit increase results in a new credit search, can anyone confirm this? Last year I reached the cashback cap within 10 weeks and then put the card away till now so I don't have any recent history with Aqua of managing the account properly....
    I think....
