As for cat litter, ask your neigbours if you can have their old newspapers & use that shredded up.OK you'll have to change it a couple times a day,but it'll be free....
I second this one.
Just come back from town and my local Asda is now collecting donated foods for a local food bank - do you have one near you? They might be able to help with a few bits which will save you some money.:hello:0 -
Oh i don't know.
I will look into it.The Daleks Reign Supreme, All Hail The Daleks!0 -

I use Oko cat litter and a 40L bag £26.99 from Zooplus lasts me around 6mths for 2 indoor cats
In fact just checked and last time I bought some it was £22.99 a bag with a 5L bag free and I got two lots so 90L of cat litter for just £46 and will last well over a year! :j“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Although 30L rather than 40L, you do still get free delivery & as it's on offer it's a comparable price (68p/L to 67p/L) and a bit less to fork out in one go.
Def need to give it a go myself if it lasts that long! (just need to wait for a day off to sign for delivery)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Just had another thought...
Have you visited the Old Style board recently?
There are some great ideas on there about how to make food and money stretch just that little bit further.
Like this grocery challenge thread that has loads of tips about shopping really cheaply:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3915823
Also, this thread is concentrating on how to cope now that things are getting tougher:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3635477
Unless you have an awful lot of time to spare I wouldn't start at page 1 of that thread as it was started before christmas and it's now up to page 444  - it's got some really interesting chats and some people that are sharing their struggles. You might find a few ideas and a few kindred spirits - you never know...
It's pretty addictive over there.

Dalek: have you considered using sand instead of litter? It's what cats would have used for toileting in ancient history so they should be happy using that if you can get hold of it cheaper than proprietary cat-litter. It does come in huge, heavy sacks but with a shopping-trolley you might be able to manage.0

I tried using sand in an outside cat toilet....the reek of cat !!!! after just a day or so was unbearable! It's also not that cheap to buy, and certainly not easy to carry due to weight.0
