In fact just checked and last time I bought some it was £22.99 a bag with a 5L bag free and I got two lots so 90L of cat litter for just £46 and will last well over a year! :j
Yeah, the last time we had to buy some was back in September. Cheap clay clumping litter really is a false economy. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0 -

I know most of us consider wt food far superior, but I fed my cats completely on dry for YEARS and they did not do too badly. Ok, I would draw the line at the cheapest supermarket foods as I am sure thay cause urinary issues, but even buying a better brand of dry such as Hills etc would work out cheaper. I used to buy 5kg bags of prescription dry for around £30 and that fed 4 cats for about 6 weeks.
Oh, and agree that emailing lots of comapnies for samples is a great idea...what was that one on GR's thread, I got a biggish bag of that to try.
Our boys between the two of them get 50g of James Wellbeloved dry and half a tin of wet a day so thats a tenner for over a month on wet, and last spring we bought 40kg of JW for under £100 with each 10kg bag of lasting around 6 monthsIt's not easy having a good time. Having had a cat, and a dog, in the past, I can sympathise with how much it can cost, simply to feed and keep them healthy (flea treatment, basic vet costs etc). Have you tried any of the pet web sites to get money off coupons OP (I know James Wellbeloved were giving some coupons a while back). I would also contact Cats Protection, explain your situation, giving you some pet food here and there (if they are allowed) would be cheaper than having to house another two cats surely ? Other option- can the cats eat any cheap cuts of reduced meat/offal etc? I know cats have different dietary requirements but am sure someone with more knowledge than me could help with some suggestions ? Hoping you get something sorted. At the moment we know a pet would be an expense we can ill afford, for now I sponsor a Dogs Trust dog, as it is the most I can afford.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Apart from that the cats might eat more so its false economy, is there any reason why its better to give a high content meat cat food rather than a cheaper one with extra bits added? I know in an ideal world they'd all only eat the best, but health wise, extra bits of other things wont harm them, like only dry can cause problems?0

My Daisy eats what I call 'junk' cat food,Whiskas/Felix ect (but not Kit E Kat since they changed the recipy) but mainly for the jelly as she doesn't drink water,so she leaves about 50% of the meat but she gets a good quality dry to make up.
dalek,vouchers sent,expiry is end July 12,£1 off £800gm & 50p off 400gm Purina One. 800gm one lasts Daisy about a month.0 -
I know its hard i have three cats and i'm struggling at the mo. My friends runs a cat rescue centre and is completely over run. Its the same everywhere prices have gone up and its so hard mamanging everything.
I buy our food and litter from pets at home.
I get 24 tins of Pets at home own brand wet food
(1 tin between the three of them)
Also 4kg of pets st home complete cat food biscuits - i just fill a bowl up and let them eat as much as they like.
So i think thats about £11 a month on a food.
Along with litter , i buy the big bags i think its just less than £20 a month.
Flea treatment £17.80 for 6 pipettes, but i'm lucky my up to now haven't needed to go to the vets . I'd crack up if they had to.0 -

Partly going on what she'll eat & reccomendations. For one,the ASSISI Animal Sancturary will not use the likes of Go Kat & store brands as they are full of dyes, addatives & bulkers (I mean some of the 'kibbles' are red, green ect..)
I feed her either Purina One or Royal Canin Exignet.

Asda puts a limit when you order for home delivery and one can only order max 8x6 tinas of Classic. I need 10x6 (60 tins per month, at 2 per day between my 4 furies) so ordered 2x6 Tiger (Asda's own) last time and my lot love it.....
Cheap - yes, probably not great quality BUT that is what I can afford now and they like it so....
Found 2 tins of Animonda in the kitchen cupboard, they used to like it - they do not want it at all any more...0 -
