*UPDATED* I CAN Manage To Keep My Cats Now!

I never really found cat litter very expensive. I think the real issue is possibly more about the food, especially with 2. I know my cat cost a good £7 a week in food, possibly and quite probably more than that so I can fully understand why they are becoming too much to afford.
How are things today Dalek? Are you feeling more positive with the suggestions on MSE or are you still feeling as though you may have to let them go?0 -
Hi there,
Yes i am feeling more positive about things.
And i've really appreciated all the suggestions, advice and support.
I can hopefully move onwards and upwards now, and keep my cats!
Thankyou everyone! The Daleks Reign Supreme, All Hail The Daleks!0 -
Don't use builders sand as it often can give 'burns' like a chemical reaction type.0

I remember when I first joined, things were very, very different for me. Both made redundant etc. A lady who didn't have a lot herself gave us potatoes and onions from her garden :T
This place never ceases to amaze meLife is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
I am really glad to hear that you are feeling more positive Dalek and that the cats will definitely be staying put without busting the budget.
To the poster above who says they spend at least £7 a week on food...wow! that is really quite a lot. I feed some Natural Instinct raw cat food which looks an expensive option up front which works out at £4 a cat per week and I know I fed dry for years for a fraction of that cost.0 -
hello, it's a while since I looked at this thread, but it seems to be one that an awful lot of people relate to.
I help a cat charity and when it started up we were always routing around the paper re-cycling bins, and I used to lug hoards of the free papers home. A litter tray lined with paper, then a small scoop of (TESCOS cheapy) cat litter, and that's the litter tray. Not only very cheap but also very easy to clean, you just scoop the whole thing out.
Hope you can work out a way to keep the cats. If times are hard financially and emotionally, you will find them such good companions. My cats will eat any food, I guess I'm lucky. Even the really cheap yukky looking ones - I have them on Classic tins now and they eat that fine. £2.65 for 6 tins I think.Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0
