Ah, apologies - not sure how I missed that tinkerbell!

SK:N worries me, as they've had hit and miss reviews. It seems that their staff/technicians who do the lasering can either be excellent or really bad and that they have a high technician/staff turnover, depending on the branch. Consequently, some people have reported mixed results with the one clinic they went to. The reviews I've seen always praise the techies/staff when the person had a brilliant techie, but that they also had difficulty trying to get a more competent one when the techies haven't been so great.

I don't think it's a problem - you'll find that anywhere! I did have 3 different technicians, but all were excellent. My only gripe was that they wouldn't mention before an appointment that it was in fact a new technician, and I thought that when you have an intimate area done, it can be a bit of a shock to suddenly be showing it to someone new.

I'm quite relaxed about getting my bits out now though!

You just have to be aware of what they are supposed to do - you'll soon know if someone does it wrong (not that any of mine ever did).
  • My local beauty school does really cheap laser removal, I think it's only £10 a session, maybe you should check your local colleges?

I'm sorry, but that can't be a clinical grade laser. More likely to be one of the shonky Argos type laser machines ;)

Yes, I did as well. Sounds very good for people with facial embarassing hair, but I need something mainly for my bikini area.
The laser treatment sounds good and my sister can afford it, I will point her here and also to the Sk:n Clinic thread. However I am not in the position to spend thousands for hair removal, anyone would recommend what do they do?
Which DIY wax kit is the best? Or foams, creams... any advice appreciated.
    Thank you

I personally epilate the bikini area. Ill not pretend its not painful cos at times it can be and for that reason I take my time and do it over two sessions.

Im very dark thick haired btw and this works better for me then waxing as I had to wait long times between waxes I felt I was either hairy ot not hairy. Now Im in control and just have a wizz over every now and then.

I tried skin doctors and guess what? Doesnt work :)

Might work if you find creams work for you but even after the extended recommended time I was still left with hair. And the growth inhibitor that comes in the box - no good for me either and you can buy similer as a stand alone product
  • Hi all

Organisations that provide these sorts of treatment must be registered with a regulator called the Healthcare Commission (click for website - it doesn't make it very clear but anyone that uses the classes of laser used in these sorts of treatment are included - link to a press release about a prosecution) or else they are committing a criminal offence. Every individual clinic should be registered (even if they are part of a chain) and they have to display their certificate of registration in the reception area of the clinic.

These lasers are serious pieces of kit and can cause permanent damage if not used by people that are properly trained. Some clinics will say that their laser operators are properly trained, but this often is no more than them going on a short demo by the company that they got the laser from, you can always ask them what training their operators go on - a good clinic won't mind being asked.

If the staff pointing these things at you don't seem to know what they are doing and you feel uneasy then you don't have to go through with the treatment.

Just to echo what Suki said-Skin Doctors didn't work for me either, I wouldn't bother with it!
If it hurts no-one, let it be

Has anyone brought one of these machines.... if so do they work???

(PS they are a hair removal system from the USA)
  • Hi, I am also interested in these, as I saw them in a magazine a little while back. I found this blog/review, and it is an interesting (and quite thorough) read. My impression (from what I have read around) is that it does work, but it is time consuming (another blog mentioned that their first go on legs took 4 hours!!!) and smells of burning hair.
I also note that it is not recommended for face or bikini areas. Personally, it isn't the product for me, but I can imagine it would be great for some.
