absolutebounder - not that wild, lol.

Not bad enough to bring out the rain forest protesters then? :rotfl:

Sorry, I'm not contributing much here!

My sister is a beauty therapist and needed people to practice on when she was training. I had facials, eyebrow tinting, massages etc etc, but no way would I let her near my nether regions with a strip of wax!!!

I don't know how you all do it, I really don't!

Hi,a couple of years ago I decided to give myself a DIY Brazilian the night before I went on holiday.
As it was getting a bit late and feeling a bit knackered after all the pre holiday preparations of packing etc I decided to stop half way through and resort to my usual method of hair removal, and used veet on my nether regions - which stupidly included applying a generous amount on the bits that had already been waxed ( there were bits that I'd missed) anyway I suddenly started to feel a burning sensation "down below", washed off the veet, and was left with a seriously blistered foof !!! OMG It was soooo painful, could hardly sit down on the plane,my knickers literally stuck to me !!!

    Never,ever again!!!!!!!!!
  • OMG, just read this thread and I am SOOO not going to have a brazilian then.
Was only just considering have my legs waxed. :D My hairs used to very very light so up until now (34) never had to shave legs. However I've noticed their getting darker and noticeable so wasn't sure whether to shave or try a home wax. Money is very tight so couldn't afford a salon wax. What would you suggest for a newbie?

I would never suggest doing your first wax at home. Personally I only get waxed for holidays so I dont need to worry about de fuzzing for the two weeks. Other times I use an epilator or just shave

I dont understand the point of getting rid of everything but a strip? why leave a little strip or triangle or whatever shape...might as well get rid of everything?

Im not letting anyone near me with wax though-im too much of a wuss lol.

Personally, it's because i don't want to be completely bare, but I don't want enything 'escaping' from bikini bottoms or knickers ;)

I saw Gok Wan's how to look good naked a few weeks ago and he was telling people what shape to get that would suit their body shapes!

That happened to me years ago when veet first came out, back when it was immac. I used it on my legs and left it on the recommended time, only to get a horrific rash when I took it off. It was that spray stuff... I don't think they even make it anymore!

For a long time I didn't shave the top of the mound because I was a bit heavier and therefore it was plump which made it harder to shave without nicking the skin. A lot of women who are a bit heavier, or have been heavier, do that, and a lot just don't shave it because they want to feel clean but they don't like the "little girl" look, shall we say! I shave the whole lot now though; much nicer. :]

Before you go the first time do you have to trim it at all? If so to what length? Mines a little wild shall we say  :rotfl:

Always trim first, and go with the hair direction the first few weeks you shave - don't ever go against the grain until maybe three weeks after you start shaving! I stopped shaving for two months recently and when I went back to it I foolishly went against the grain straight away... hello ingrown hairs and razor bumps! :(

EDIT: Oh, and exfoliate the area first! REALLY helps! I started doing this recently and the difference is amazing! Smooth skin, easier to shave and no ingrown hairs at all!!
  • I used to have them regularly. A good one will cost between £30 and £50 a time.

Yowser..I pay £8 in the beauty salon at a casino near where I live.

I've been getting it done for years now, stings a bit, but not so bad, they do a really good job and make you feel really at ease.

For ingrowing hairs my beautician recommended using facial scrub on the affected area, which I can recommend.

Scrub before or after the session?
