I would say not worth the pain or the money.
I found I was still "stubbly" immediately after even though it promised to remove even the shortest of hairs and the pain was absolute teeth clenching agony. I would literally be holding the thing over my leg willing myself to go through with it (especially the backs of the calves) and the result was just not worth it.
A definate  experience to be avoided!!!0 -
I have an epilator and personally it was b***y painful, but then I'm a big wimp
I think its supposed to get easier the more you do it, and you can get the ice ones that make it less painful.0 -
Does anyone think there's an age limit where the beautician thinks "What's SHE doing this for?" when it comes to some of the more daring wax-jobs?
Before I went too be sterilised a year or two ago vanity made me go for a "tidy up". I wished I hadn't as the hair grew back as it was near to the incisions and itched like crazy  . However the beautician said "all off" is commonplace, in my age-group. Do you think they judge people's figures (weight)?
It seems most men like the shaven haven type thing, but I'm shy to go and have a wax ......:o especially if there's a likelihood I might be deemed too fat or too old :wave:0 -
i use one and wouldn't be without it. I do my legs with it and find it is the same effect as waxing. I think the only way to be totally smooth is to continually shave with a sharp razor as hair grows in different stages so when one hair is long another is just pushing through the surface.
I've been for waxes before and felt stubbly after so after the initial outlay for an epilator it is definitely worth it. I used to be really sensitive to the pain as I'm a total wuss but now it doesn't hurt and rather than use ice I do it after a hot bath. The same principle as for plucking eyebrows. OMG i'm sounding like a hirsute monster but not really just like to be hair free and far too tight to get waxing done regularly. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
I use one, because it was far more convenient and cheaper than going somewhere to be waxed...
It *is* sore, but its not ongoing pain, once its done its done, there are no lasting painful aftereffects....I've found that it doesn't really get less sore, but then the "pain numbing" thing fell off my epilator..!!
Once you start on a session though, don't stop - your body's natural pain killers take over and the area becomes numb, and so it does get less painful if you do everything that needs to be done in one session.
Don't do it just before your period is due, because things are more sensitive, and the last thing you need is self inflicted pain.
And check on ebay for Epilators - esp at the moment I suspect there might be a LOT of unwanted Christmas presents..!!0 -
I had one of these and found that although I did my legs regularly, I was always left with short stubbly hairs, I persevered for nearly a year but althought the hairs definitely came through finer, I never felt 'totally smooth' however I am considering trying again with a different (maybe better quality one) as I hate shaving with razors and the creams work out expensive (I use the 3 minute veet cream, which I do find good) I did find the pain with the epliator definitely decreased to where I could stand it quite well...
I did work with someone who swore by her epilator and used it for her bikini line and underarms as well :eek:Jun GC £250.00/£12.40 NSD 3 / 30

So painful! I gave up after a few tries and the thing was so expensive! I advise you continue shaving until laser treatment becomes a lot cheaper lol.0
