Clever marketing or not, I would say going from having to 'tweeze' for up to an hour a night to doing it once a month for 10 minutes is a pretty significant reduction and definately worth the money IMHO.
There I go again, making myself out to be some sort of Yeti

Wish I could afford laser, I'm darkhaired and pale skinned so sounds like it would work well on me ... do clinics use volunteers for training, or would that be a very very bad idea?

I've never heard of that. But it wouldn't hurt to ask at the Sk:n Clinics!

The other thing they mislead you about is that on the website they categorically say it doesn't hurt!! I suppose if they told the truth it would put people off, because in my experience it definitely hurts. But still worth it, as I keep saying...and it does get easier with each treatment.
  • So do they aim at each individual hair? The sessions must take quite a long time.

Having said that, the results sound great... I've always got spotty legs from ingrown hairs whether I shave, epilate or wax.

Yeah, I used to have spotty legs but thankfully not anymore! Yes it does take a long time. My sessions for legs, bikini line, tummy and underarms take about an hour and a half. The beam of light from the laser is about the size of a 1p piece, and it targets all the hairs in that area at once, then they move on to the next area.
