I use one, and swear by it as I have eczema on my legs and shaving just makes them sore and itchy!! I can highly recommend using these kind of sand paper things you can buy from bigger chemists (Superdrug does them) called 'Silkymit'. They are hand-shaped fine sand paper which exfoliate really well, remove any bumps or lumps and make your skin lovely and smooth. I have been using a combination of the two for a while now, and my legs have never been better, both in terms of hair removal and also their resitance to falre ups from eczema. Here is a link to one place which sells Silkymit products so you can have a look: http://www.blushingbuyer.co.uk/acatalog/Alida.html?sentby=google_alida

All I can say about my experience was that it was the most painful thing I have ever inflicted on myself! How innocent I was when I put it on my skin - OWWW! Good luck to anyone who CAN use them, I am quite envious.

    Hi,

I have an epilator and find that it doesn't remove the hair at the root but annoyingly it tends to snap just above my skin so im always left with stubbly feeling legs!! Anyone know why this is and how to stop it??

this could be due to an overproduction of testesterone, which your gp could do a test for or even polycystic ovary disease. Some types of the pill can be taken to help.

Visit your GP, they wont be embarassed and you dont have to be either.
  • You could try Aculight pulsed light hair removal. It's expensive, but I've had it done and it works (although best if you have light skin and dark hair).

I noticed a couple of years back that my thighs were getting hairy! I went to the doctor and after a few questions she diagnosed policystic ovaries and put me on Dianette and it's virtually gone now.

I think that you should go to the doctor about it as it's very common especially as we girls get older!

Definitely ask the doctor - they deal with embarrassing stuff every day so you have no need to feel uncomfortable about such a common problem.

However I would warn you that I took Dianette some years back and I got very severely depressed and decided I'd rather live with the hair than the depression!
