The bankruptcy decision is between you and the judge, the first the ex mother-in-law will know about it is when she is written to by the official receiver, or when you tell her.

I'm not sure how much information she gets, but I believe routinely she would get your address.

There have been cases where the basnkrupt's address is kept from creditors when, for example, the bankrupt is at genuine risk of domestic violence from an ex-partner who is also a creditor.

Other posters on here know more than me about this side of things, so keep an eye on the thread for the next few hours.
  • Thanks, I do not wish for her to know as her daughter my ex wife has already stalked my girlfriend

Your address will be on the Insolvency Register unless you can evidence you are at risk of domestic violence so have police reports or medical evidence of previous DV. However most people don't think to look at the register and your name won't come up on google because it is on it.

Took me 2 months to get the money, as soon as I had the cash I got a court date within a week.

I applied to the British Legion and they paid thankfully.

  • I realised in 09 and when I sought help, stupidly I went to a firm who advised me on an IVA. The IVA was complete within 6 weeks and never realistic I should of been strong and stuck to my original plan of going BR. I never knew this board exsisted. I have only now taken my head from the ground and faced this head on. I can honestly say it will take me best part of a year to save the money needed. I am approaching the British Legion though as I was married to a member of the armed forces and they often help out.

If it is going to take you longer than a couple of months to raise the fees then I would carry on paying the CCJ until you are nearly there and then use the last couple of payments to boost your fund. As it is a court that dealt with it the OR will understand if you pay this debt and not others.
