I decieded I needed to go B/R in sept 12, I stopped paying my debts, and saved that instead, by april this year I had enough letters to stuff a cushion with and stopped my mobile receiving answer messages it was unbearable!, I worked as much overtime as I could and went for it, I was broke but it had to be booked. I had to show a letter to my O/R saying how much rent I paid per month, but I would think a letter from your partner to say how much you contribute would be ok after all if you lived with parents you dont have a tennancy agreement with them to prove what you would pay!! I think you need to speak to a goverment run advice centre and they will give you all the info you need, I also think people can think to much and make them selves ill, really its not as daunting as it seems and remember you are not alone. x0

Thank you, TBH im literally crapping myself. I dont want this to come back on my new partner as we have only just recently gor together and she has a mortgage. Another concern is if I put everything into my BR then technically I will have a decent surplus each month so I will have to pay for the next 3 years.....suppose its not as bad as paying for the next decade with spiralling interest rates0 -
Can I also go BR if I have just entered into a DMP???0

That is definitely the way to look at it. I'm always amazed at the people who won't consider BR due to the potential/probable IPA but they'd end up paying a lot less with an IPA than fire fighting debt for decade/s. An IPA is far preferable imo."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0 -
Well had a long, imformative, conversation last night with a BR specialist. He has put my mind considerably at ease. I have to pay them £500 to take care of it for me first £250 when im paid to start the process of the letters to creditors. Is this a competitive price or are there cheaper BR specialists that do the same?????0

JUST DON'T PAY ANYONE TO DO IT FOR YOU.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
I second tigerfeet. Dont pay anyone to do this for you. Believe me I did forms etc myself and by using advice from Nat Debt line and this board and wonderful helpful support I went BR.
You really can do this yourself. Why on eart pay out any more- you cant afford it.0 -
Ok but I thought they were very complex and they offer a Full sevice. If I do it myself will letters to my creditors be sent to say im applying for BR still.
Im very worried I will make a real mess of this and be stung br the OR0 -
You do not need to notify your creditors about your BR, all that will be done by the OR.
The forms may seem difficult but they aren't, any help you need just ask here because nearly everyone here has gone through all this.
The free debt charities will also give you the help, absolutely no reason to pay for it.BSC Member 3510 -
Great , so what is the reason for them companies????? Is it for people who are not aware of the other comapnies who can help you free of charge.
Is there any letters that will be sent to my creditors prior? I just woerry if debt collectors come knocking considering im now living at my Girlfriends house I worry bout Baliffs coming around when it has nothing to do with her.0
