Need to put my thinking cap on to come up with some more ideas.0 -
Damn damn and triple damn..... the bearings have just gone on our washing machine! So it looks like £24 spend on new bearings and hope that my DIY skills are up to the challenge! Otherwise we'll have to buy a new WM :-/Total Credit Card Debt - £6,108/£7,079 (0% until April 2013)

Hello everyone,
I have been lurking in this post for about a week now and love it. Can I join you please.
I'm MRSM1983 and my 1% is £15 I'm hoping to clear my overdraft which is £1500. So far I have raised £25 in spare change so I have my first 1% and I'm working on my second. The £25 I have saved I know I would have spent this week on rubbish if it wasn't for this thread, it is brill....
...Looking forward to doing 1% at a time with you all.I've been lurking a little on this thread for the past couple of days...I hope you don't mind if I join in?....
So, my 1% = £50
I've currently got £530/£5000, and since payday, I've saved 9% which I'm pretty pleased with. I put a cheque for £58 and some odd pence into the bank today, so by next Tuesday I will be able to add another 1%, possibly 2% as I might chuck a few extra quid at it to round it off!... Well done to everyone on all their 1% so far.
Welcome MrsM1983 and MessyMare, no need to lurk anymore, it's fantastic to have you on board! :T
You will be on the front list in a few minutes so you'll have a member number.
Really pleased to see folks finding lots of opportunities to push money towards their 1%'s.
I guess this thread is about realising the importance of all the small chances we get every day to make/save money. When you have an unexpected tenner, a spare note or two plus an handful of coins and realise - 'that's my next 1%' instead of feeling like it's not enough or a drop in the ocean!
It's SO easy for those spare bits of cash to turn into a few chocolate bars, a can of pop or bits and bobs at a local store.
We have to physically PUSH our 1%'s to where we want them to be. As others have said, letting it sit around makes it disappear.0 -

Oh dear bpsp10! Fingers crossed the £24 sorts it. There's lots of help/instructions online for doing DIY bearing repairs. If you look at www.washerhelp.co.uk that might be useful!
I guess if it works it's waaay cheaper than a new machine or trips to the laundrette!0 -

I'm trying to clear the last £2k from my credit card by next April, I'm hoping this will give me some motivation.
My 1% is £20, I'm going to count my coin jar today, might be my first 1%

Sending of my music magpie bundle today but my Webuy labels haven't come through yet; maybe tomorrow!
Got about 10 eBay listings ending today, so far half have bidsDFW Total £21,800 to clear by Dec 2022

Thanks Little Miss
Well I've counted the coin jar and there was just over £23 so there's my first 1% I'm going to try and remember to empty my purse of everything below 10p to the jar regularly and it'll soon add up!
I've joined some survey sites and entered quite a few comps and I plan to get listing on eBay at the weekend....I'm determined to do this once and for all! :TDebt at LBM (April 2007) £16000

I'd just like to say how inspiring I've found this thread. I am currently out of work and hoping to start a degree at the Open University in October and while I have the cash for the first module, I'm going to be scraping to get the money together for the second! I'm about £500 short so I've adapted the idea to make 50 ways to make £10. I didn't think it would be possible to get any funds together but in the space of a week I already have my first £10 from walking any short journeys that I would usually take the bus for (when I say short, these have been up to 3 mile distances so far). Maybe I won't get to 100% (I seem to be stuck at idea 35 for making £10) but anything helps towards the total and puts me in a better position.
Thanks very much, I'll return to quiet lurking now!Thank you competition posters!
