  • Thanks Fae, I need to start pulling some 5%+ weeks to stay on track now!

Hey Cuba Cat - That's updated now! :D I found it really helpful when getting rid of my overdraft to get a new account (no overdraft) and then treat your overdraft as a separate debt that isn't always up and down with bills etc. It's also feels very positive to have a current account that isn't in a minus :)

Just checking in with another 1% birnging my total to 6%!!! Made from Gumtree.

Thanks little miss and everyone else. I may have another 94% to go but I have been thinking about starting these savings for nearly a year and I haven't done anything until now.
Really fab idea & I'm so glad to be a part of it

I've actually considered that but I'd worry that I'd end up overdrawn on the second account too. There are certain weeks every month that I go overdrawn and without an increase in income, I can't see that changing. So not sure how it would work practically. <ponders>
  • @cubacat just make sure that you have no overdraft on your new account and that you opt out of unarranged overdrafts.

On my card it's not possible to go over, if I try and make a purchase that's more than the avail balance it just declines it.

Hi can I join this thread? I love the whole concept of breaking the amount down into %. I don't have any debt but I am trying to save and over pay my mortgage. I did have some savings but I discovered a leak in my flat roof and now my savings are back down to 0. :(

Would like to save £1000 to replace the cost of the roof so my 1% is £10.

We had bad news at work. One of our colleagues got hit by a car on the way into work and died. Left behind a 4 month old little boy. Made me think. Debt can be got rid of, and so what if I have to go without for a while. That good old saying 'as long as you have your health' is sooooo true. So from now on im gonna be happy with everything i have. I can do the best for my family from now on by putting all my effords into this debt free journey. Everyday is a beautiful day, enjoy it! ................and Yes, I have had a couple of glasses of wine:)

That's so sad, my thoughts are with his/her family. Especially the little boy :( your right though, as long as you have your health and your family/close ones and you are happy and safe....

Ive just listed 10 things on eBay. One of which is a blade less razor handle (Venus one thst you buy the razor blades/cartridges for separately :rotfl:) i figured I might as well try my luck, all the Venus cartridges clip on to it and maybe someone will want it, I'll report bsck :D

Need to get some wrapping paper tomorrow for a kids birthday present for Sunday, we are going to the party at a soft play so must remember to eat before I go and take a bottle of water. Kids food is included but they do lovely food there so need not be tempted :D if I get gender neutral kids paper that will do me for the other 3 kids birthdays coming up in the next 8 weeks :o

Also im making some gifts for a friends baby for her baby shower, which is at pizza hut grumble so got to budget for that! One of the presents is a taggie comfort blanket and I've been lucky as a friend gave me some ribbons for the edges and another friend gave me some soft minkee fsbric for one side so I only had to buy fabric for the other side :D really looking forward to knocking it up, think I'll do one for my baby too if I've enough fabric :D

Lesgeo2012 that's so sad. :( Why does it usually take something completely awful to happen for us to put things into perspective?

@cubacat just make sure that you have no overdraft on your new account and that you opt out of unarranged overdrafts.

On my card it's not possible to go over, if I try and make a purchase that's more than the avail balance it just declines it.

I don't mean I'd go OD because I spend too much (although that's how I ended up here in the first place :D ), it's just that I get my money in dribs and drabs throughout the month so it's hard to budget iyswim. So, for instance, I get paid my salary towards the end of the month, then the day after I get paid my rent comes out. This leaves me with about £300 (assuming I'm not OD on the day I get paid, that is, as if I am I'm left with less). Then a week later all my DDs come out, leaving me with about £20 to buy food, petrol etc so I end up overdrawn. I then use my OD to live on until I get my tax credits two weeks later, but as I'm already OD by then the TCs just about pay off the OD, and I still have another 10 days-ish until I get my salary again. It's like a vicious circle I can't escape from. If anyone has an idea of how I can solve this I'd be so grateful.

Very sad, as you say makes you think, and realise what is important. Enjoy your wine.

Also interested in hearing if the razor sells, :) you never know
