Looks like you got yours early, mine just arrived today.
I too was ripped off. I have emailed and also rang up but didn't get offered a refund. Obviously that was early on before they had so many complaints.
What is the address you were given to post them back to? Were they FAO of anyone in particular or a reference number? I'm going to post mine back anyway.
I spoke to an arrogant man and they obviously already have their argument ammunition ready which is "They were advertised as a mix, bedding & basket plants, pot luck, deal etc etc" and "The basket plants can also be bedding plants/planted in a low pot..."
It's utter rubbish! They were advertised as £100 worth of bedding plants! They are TINY individual plants, no flowers and they amount to -£20 worth of BASKET plants. The phrase "bedding & basket mix" only appeared on my dispatch email just 2 days ago, it wasn't on the page of the deal and it wasn't on my order confirmation!
I put these points to them and made it clear that even if I had agreed to purchase a "basket & bedding mix" there are NO bedding plants, there is NO mix, this is NOT what was advertised. However they refuse to accept that and he kept saying "I can not agree with you, I can give you the address for a formal complaint".
FOBBED off!
I too am very disappointed that this comes Martin Lewis recommended, this is against everything he stands for, it represents customers being completely mislead and ripped off without the opportunity for refund. I do not believe it was properly investigated or the website's reputation researched.
NEVER order from Van Meuwen! :mad:0 -
"A minimum of 40 plants, usually £100, for £9.99. Delivery's £4.95 making the total cost £14.94. Since each pack varies, Van Meuwen can't tell us which varieties will definitely be included, but it has confirmed each pack will contain fuchsias, petunias and geraniums. Other plants it might contain include begonias, dianthus', becopas, asters, violas and bidens."
No mention in Martin's email (see above) about HANGING BASKET plants. What I got was 35 (not 40) all hanging basket plugs, many dead, definitely none ready for planting in beds. I endorse all that has been said before, not worth £15 even if they were in peak condition. This firm should be avoided in future.
Sorry Martin, your researchers slipped up this time - or were misled like us.0 -
I don't want to say "Who I am" as it isn't relevant to the discussion but let's just say that news of this will be told now to my 380,000 loyal and connected following on Twitter asking them to retweet it to all of their respective followers so they can all beware, AND hopefully by this weekend but if not, by next week, it will be televised! (Keep your eyes peeled!)
It is the principle of the matter here and so I will damage their reputation greatly (I will try to limit damage to the reputation of MSE though). They aren't refunding and that is not on!0 -
I have searched through the forum, and unless I have missed something it wasn't an offer that a member originally posted, so how did it get on to the MSE newsletter?, did Van Meuwen directly contact MSE to promote this offer?0

I hope the MSE Abuse team are checking the IP and registration details of some of these new posters popping up to endorse Van Meuwen, and I hope these posters are aware that it is criminal offence to pretend to be a satisfied customer and falsely endorse a company when you are an employee or agent of that company.0

I ordered this so called incredible NOT TO BE MISSED offer and thought it was a great deal and I could not go wrong especially backed up by Martin Lewis's site. I ordered as soon as it was advertised I think 8th of June and received them today 21/6.
What an absolute joke .. again no surprises that they were ALL HANGING BASKETS all 40 ..... !!! I do not own a hanging basket and do not want to go out and spend MORE money on a hook and a basket to hang them in ! They were NOT advertised as PLUGS and neither did it state all were hanging baskets. I feel sooooo RIPPED off and conned I know its only £15.00 but still its money completely down the drain. I have emailed them and will be sending the whole thing back and expecting my money back 100% and also the postage refunded. The plants were all wilted and looked half dead. I agreed with the others this is awful and do NOT go anywhere near that company again I wont be grabbing any deals off here again unless they are companies I have heard of !0 -

should they?
I'm still waiting for mine. I knew it was going to be like this, but my OH really wanted them, so I went along with it.
I agree BUT they should not have been nothing like what was advertised and also NOT in the sooo very terrible condition they arrived in. They are probably worth £5.00 if that ! FUMING.COM0 -
Did you have to send the wilted ones back ??? If so did they refund the postage ?? Wondering if its worth the bother if you dont get your money back plus costs to send back ?0
