Do non-fixed ISAs typically allow transfers in at any point after the ISA has been opened? I was going to open a Newcastle and Principality 5% ISA but was wondering if I can transfer from one to the other at a later date.

Re the Newcastle single access Isa and Principality Isa it seems transfers are permitted.
Newcastle state min opening balance is at least £1 though, and Principality states you must keep at least £1 in the account.

Typically, yes. I've only had one recent variable rate ISA become closed to new funds, and that was the Stafford notice ISA. To give them credit, they closed it to new funds rather than cull its high rate when they took the axe to some other accounts' rates a few weeks later. But the inability to fund going forwards was no use to me so I closed the account.

Mansfield Building Society has two new issues

  • I am not sure if I have missed a post on this forum, but Mansfield Building Society is savagely cutting the rates on some of their accounts on the 31st July 2024.
e.g. The Double Access ISA Issue 1 is plummeting from 5.5% to 5.0%  :'(

I can't find notice of this one their website (yet...), I thought they would put an easy to find notice on their website with a link to a .pdf before sending out letters!

It also affects some of their non-ISA accounts.

Oh well ditch and switch; if you can!

Switch to a different ISA paying over 5%? Not too many of those. Of course, this shows the perils of having a variable rate product.

However, given there are several paying 5% with better access, it would make sense not to accept the "only 2 withdrawals" terms and switch to those with better access (Double access for me was and is acceptable for that pot of cash, as I have funds elsewhere with better access, that doesn't mean I won't transfer the ISA to an account with improved access and the same rate! there is enough in there that I would like to split it up).

Just a note to say that if anyone is thinking of transferring into the T212 cash ISA I have just done it and it took 7 days, but that was delayed 1 day by me as I needed to sign a form.

Funds were shown as allocated to JPM 16%/NAT WEST 40%/BAR 44% by day 8.

Out of interest did you also experience a gap between earning interest from your previous provider to start earning interest from Trading212 ?
