I Hadn't planed on leaving it open, but could do. Do you know if it needs a minimum balance?Kim_13 said:
Santander are reducing the rate shortly so the ISA will soon be a bigger win.vixen1500 said:Thanks all, will sort out paying in this years £20,000 then, its sitting in Santander 5.2% account at the moment
It doesn’t sound like you’re at risk of not doing so but do leave enough in Santander to keep the account open as it’s no longer accepting new applications and may be competitive again later.Typically confused and asking for advice0

I understood £1 to be the minimum and that is what I left in mine. I also had the earlier issue which they later extended the term on, emptying it when the 5.2% version came out. While they haven't closed that one yet for having a nil balance, they could of course do so.vixen1500 said:

Just to warn you. Santander likes you to close accounts via their chat bot, ask Sandi.vixen1500 said:
If you do, the only option is a cheque for the balance.
I emptied my account electronically apart from £1 and then requested closure.
Closure and balance happened within 8 working days by cheque.0

Well, at the moment it looks like next year interest on our mortgage will be higher then the interest on any saving accounts available. We will have to make a decision then, which could as well be just to empty saving pots and pay the mortgage off ...subjecttocontract said:There is a lot of optimism on this forum in regards to interest rates falling.......of course, they might not fall or fall anytime this year ( or next).

Other factors may influence what the Bank of England does. An interesting read here:0

Start your own thread and moan about the government and interest rates in there then.subjecttocontract said:
Not really. The Political landscape has a direct bearing on interest rates even if you dont want to recognise it.CrickJon said:
Could you perhaps stop with the Labour criticism? It’s fair enough they get a chance to clean up the current government’s mess. Let’s just leave it at that and keep the focus on savings.subjecttocontract said:Well I'm struggling to understand whats driving the optimism.
Next year we could have a Labour Government. Even the most optimistic can't think they will fix anything quickly
We could have a Middle East war.
Russia is winning in Ukraine and we need to increase defence spending.
 The country has no money.
Yea......it's all going well and interest rates are bound to fall, not!6

Bath BS 2 year 4.6% fixed... but another BS, apparently and usefully, according to the editorial, allowing additions through the term:
Building society launches new cash ISA paying 'excellent' 4.6% interest rate (msn.com)

On my reading of the editorial it's this tax year only for the additions. I'm yet to find anything on the Bath BS website but probably wouldn't bother if that is the case, factoring in that it appears to be postal only as well.soulsaver said:Bath BS 2 year 4.6% fixed... but another BS, apparently and usefully, according to the editorial, allowing additions through the term:

You must be reading a different editorial than I linked to, then...Kim_13 said:

Just an update. Heard back from Shawbrook from my secure message. They closed the FR ISA 2 yrs at 4.50% and transferred the balance with closing interest into the new issue at 4.61% (as it was within 14 days of opening).2010 said:

Opened last week at 4.5% . Have sent them a secure message asking if I can close as within 14 days of opening and open this new FR ISA at 4.61%. As yet no reply.nomorekids said:Rate increase for Shawbrook 2 year fixed issue 81, 4.61%
They are a bit of a nightmare when you want to transfer an ISA out.
They are in the electronic transfer system but seem to be in no rush to do it. 4 4
