.....Reading @soulsaver story doesn't provide me with much confidence of it going smooth with Virgin.....
Perhaps I can offer an alternative experience?
I had a Virgin Fixed ISA mature on Christmas Eve and had submitted a partial transfer to an Aldermore fix just before that fix was withdrawn. When I called Virgin on the 28th Dec, they confirmed that the transfer was approved and was going out that day, and it was therefore safe to request another transfer (to a Coventry Easy Access ISA) for the balance. I submitted the Coventry transfer request that same day.
Aldermore confirmed they received the funds on the 28th Dec and Coventry got theirs on 2nd Jan. Bearing in mind this was over the Christmas and New Year period, (I think both transfers were via the BACS transfer system, which may have helped), I don't think the timescales were too shabby at all and I certainly didn't have any issues.
Disclosure: I am not associated with Virgin Money at all, apart from as a (now former) customer.

Nice one and refreshing to hear that it all went so smooth. Fingers crossed it will all work out with mine.

That new Kent Reliance issue is very good, but unfortunately the 1k minimum means you can't just open it and sit on it until the new tax year.

I've got the iss 42 at a slightly lower rate.  Could anyone confirm, if I want to 'upgrade' is it as simple as opening an iss 43, then transfering funds between the two.  Seems to be the case from what I can see/have read, but I've never done it like that before (i.e. always used a more defined transfer process before, but seems different at Charter?).  Just want to check before pushing the button, as don't want to lose the ISA status by mistake...

    Thanks

You should be able to do an internal transfer from the lower rate paying to the higher paying issue. I would give Charter a call to confirm and walk you through the process so you follow the correct procedure.

One important correction to the above, this ISA is not flexible.
    From their Key Product details:
    • our Cash ISAs are not flexible ISAs - you cannot take money out of your Cash ISA and replace it in the same tax year, without it counting towards your annual ISA allowance
