Principality has raised (!) the interest rates on its fixed term ISAs:

    5 year 1.95%
    3 year 1.85%
    18 month 1.4%

    Best buys ;)

As from today, these ISAs are available only in branch or agency. They can no longer be opened online.

Leaflet says opening date 6th April.
I have an appointment for the 11th.
Projected balance on 5 April 2018 assuming full funding is £20258.60.
The clerk did stress that the rate was variable, though none of my other accounts have ever been reduced.

    Thanks

Was wondering why the 11th – was that the earliest appointment they had or the earliest you could make it?

Beware that these jokers are very busy apparently. So busy, that to open the ISA I needed an appointment, and the nearest one was on the 19th only - 10 days ahead.

So, don't waste your time and make an appointment over a phone.

A bit unfair to call them jokers....

Well, I don't just call them. The fact remains that for such a simple action I needed an appointment and have to wait 10 days.
It's not a rocket science, and if they are incapable of doing this online, why cashiers can't do this or, at least, accept an application and make the necessary copies? There were two of them in the empty branch.

Notts bs need your National Insurance number and identity documents. Passport or driving licence would do and also a utility bill to confirm address. They will accept first payment by cheque. Cash also but not DD or Credit cards.
The 11th was the first appointment available.

    Happy new tax year everybody!

Details on the 2.25 per cent Nottingham branch based regular saver ISA - starter ISA issue 7 - are now online

Irrespective of when you open the account it matures on 5 April 2018. You can also top up the account to the maximum new annual £20k ISA limit on a one off basis in March 2018.

I opened a Notts BS regular saver ISA this morning - 2.25% which is better than Santander current account (feeder into the ISA). Have already maxed out Santander current, Lloyds Club, Nationwide reg saver, Santander reg saver, Lloyds reg saver, Tesco current, TSB current and 2.25% seems OK for these straightened times.

The appointment to open the ISA only took 5 mins, passport + council tax bill was all that was needed. Cheque handed over for £2,400 for first month. No attempt to sell any of their other products (thank goodness). Job done.

Same for me, phoned my local Notts BS branch at lunchtime, some kind person had cancelled their appointment this afternoon so staff could fit me in. Took 10 mins, most of which was chatting about house prices and the lovely weather!

I got the impression this new ISA has generated a lot of enquiries, so may not be available for long.

This was possibly the first time I have opened an ISA on the first day of the new tax year, but for that interest rate and large monthly pay in I was willing to drop everything and get to the branch asap, not an offer I wanted to miss!
