Opening an account with Saffron Building Society won't make you a eligible to open products for members only.

    Saffron define members as:

"Anyone who currently holds a personal savings account with the Society and has maintained a balance of at least £100 for 12 months or more. Members also include our mortgage customers with over £100 on loan. To be a full (voting) member, you also have to be over 18 years of age. Being a member gives you a number of rights within the Society."

    See here.

The Saffron 2016/2017 Regular Saver Cash ISA will be at a rate of 3.00% with similar flexible rules to the 2015/2016 one.

    Hi veryintrigued,

Was your reply a direct reply to mine or was it to share info on the new product? I wonder if this year's Saffron BS regular saver cash ISA will also be members' only?

The Saffron RS ISA last year (2015/16) was open to members only. A family member of mine wanted to open one at the time but was just a few week's short on becoming a member. They had the regular saver (non-ISA) account (which is open to all) but hadn't quite had it for a year when the Members' regular saver ISA launched. They are now a Saffron BS member and will qualify for any of the members' only products going forward.
    Please call me 'Kazza'.

    Members only.

Phoned head office but they were not aware of any new 3.0% regular saver ISA. They told me to keep checking their website.

Then phoned my local branch and the manageress confirmed they are launching a Members only 3.0% regular ISA. Already made my appointment to open one on the 7th of April.

    Many thanks to veryintrigued.

If this Saffron product is being launched I wonder how long it will last. Last time it was launched the product was withdrawn within 2 weeks.

Is it going to branch only - or can members apply by post. They shut their Stratford branch in London branch last year - and I would rather not have to travel to Brentwood to open it!

Agreed. But I am a higher rate taxpayer who has all of those bar Santander and I will exceed the £500 tax free limit - so it works for me as that's 5 per cent grossed up. It also stays tax free for ever and I can move the funds into other ISA products in the future

Not for all - but good for me.

And as an Essex man I like to support my local society.

I was in my local Saffron BS yesterday and they had a floor sign advertising the 3% Members Regular ISA but it's still not on their website.

    Thanks.

Are they accepting applications now - seems odd they would advertise it at branches before Wednesday?

I missed out last year - and I don't intend to miss out again!:D
