You need to check the T&Cs but it sounds rather unlikely. And why would you do this anyway? The rate will be shockingly bad. Also you can be virtually certain that you will not find any better cash ISA rates in a couple weeks than today. You would most likely do better if you put the money into one of the interest-paying current accounts. http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/savings-loophole
And probably leave it in there, too, for a few years, as ISA rates aren't going to magically become acceptable again soon.

At the moment it is in a current account paying 0% so I want it somewhere quickly that pays interest and my existing Santander Direct ISA pays 1.3%

Looking at the current accounts listed on MSE they stop paying interest over £5000 (except for Santander123 which I already have) so it seems easier to put as much as possible in the ISA and then move it all to a 2 year fixed rate after which the rates may have risen.

Sure, 1.3% is a lot better than 0%. But it is a lot worse than 3% or 4% or 5%, even after tax. At the moment, you can still get some £50K into current accounts at those rates. It does involve a bit of effort but works like clockwork once set up, and yields more than inflation, which of of course the 1.3% ISA does not.

Leeds BS 5 year Fixed Rate Cash Isa available Issue 40 with a rate of 2.50%.

    Minimum deposit is £100.

Transfers in and additional deposits are allowed.

Up to a quarter of the amount invested can be withdrawn, with no penalties.

  • Norwich and Peterborough have no fixed-rate cash ISAs at present as these were withdrawn a few weeks ago. I think the same is true of their parent Yorkshire Building Society and other financial institutions owned by YBS.

The only one that seems to be worth the effort is the Santander 123 as it pays interest on up to £20K. As an existing account holder I could easily open another account, and then put the money in that. I would need to set up a few DDs and SOs but I think it might work.
ISA rates are really bad everywhere it seems.

Hi everybody. I hope you're all having a great weekend.

The first post of this thread has been updated.

It was quite a major update as a number of rates have changed and some new ISAs have launched.
    Please call me 'Kazza'.
  • Just dropped in to see which is the best ISA interest paying account.

    Looks like Virgin's 3-yr fixed e-ISA issue 90 (2.25% AER) has been replaced by issue 98 @ 2.15% AER.
