    Great info!
Do you any details of cash isa's paying interest monthly?

    Thanks!

I know that Birmingham Midshires offer their 2yr FRISA (4.05%) either annually or monthly as I was asked this yesterday when I applied over the phone. However it makes very little difference over the term if you decide to have interest monthly.

There are two AER rates included on the webpage for this ISA, 2.00% and 4.25%. My understanding is that the 4.25% rate is made up of BOE base rate (0.5%) + 1.5% + 2.25% (bonus rate).
Yes... or maybe that's only what we're supposed to assume.

It it's really BOE + 1.5% + 2.25% during the bonus period, you'd have thought they'd sell it as "3.75% above BOE rate until 31/10/2013" as that sounds a lot more spectacular.

Still I admit I'm probably being paranoid.

I would recommend checking the rate paid each month just to be sure. If the rate does fall before the bonus expires, then you could just request a transfer to another ISA.
True, though that means missing out on the other new-money-only deals. Gah. I think I'll do this anyway though and hope for the best. Thanks!

Just to keep this excellent thread on the first page, I have today opted for the Birmingham Midshires 2 yr FRISA at 4.05%. Still open but maybe not for much longer.

Likewise I've done the same. The general thinking is that rates are not going to rapidly increase, so I think 2 years is a comfortable time scale. Any longer and you might be kicking yourself. Crystal ball time.

Me too, but I'm wondering whether or not I did the right thing. Their system is so archaic, the funds for this aren't earning any interest whilst sitting in my current account. I'm thinking I should've gone for a lower rate where the account would have been opened promptly and the funds taken straight away so earning interest immediately. The extra interest from the higher rate's soon eaten into by the delay :(.

Just an update on my previous post, not regretting it afterall. I rang them today to see if they could tell my what the damage re back log's likely to be and was told that their teams are working round the clock, and my account was opened on 12th. Not too bad then, when the earliest they could have opened it was the 10th (after the back holidays).

I have just taken out the Lloyds 2 year FRISA paying 3.7% over 2 years.
I opened it with NIL payment but did a partial transfer (£30000) from another flexible ISA. I now have the following choices:
I can filter in this year and and next years ISA allowance if I want or open up other ISA's.
I can make further transfers in the next two years from my other ISA's and know I will get the fixed rate.
Was easy to open on the internet as I am a Lloyds Internet customer. (Took less than one minute) Handed the transfer form into the local branch or could have posted.
I like the fact that I have the choice to add to this ISA at my own pace or start another depending how rates change in the future. So not the very best rate but lots of flexibility for a FRISA. I do realise once I start to pay in this years allowance then I wont be able to make a transfer without penalty:beer:
