  • I have been trying to following SW on my own for the last 3 weeks and so far have done pretty well and have lost 9 pounds. I now weigh 10st 13lb. I want to weigh about 9½st so only 20 pounds to go.

I have put on about 2½st since I got married 3 years ago. I was just getting to the stage where a size 12 is too small and I had to buy a couple of size 14 trousers. That was when I thought I had to lose some weight.

I do eat pretty healthily – no pre-packaged meals, etc, I’m not that keen on chocolate and crisps, etc I think it was just a combination of home baking and the pill!

I’m using slimming world as I didn’t seem to be eating very much and I read somewhere that maybe I’ve slowed my metabolism right down and my body is in ‘starvation mode’ so whatever fat I was eating was being stockpiled.

With slimming world I can eat loads of free food, make sure I get my 5-a-day fruit & veg, make sure I get my ‘healthy extras’ and 5-15 syns per day - so I am eating tons more than I did and always feel stuffed. I’m also walking for 20-30 minutes every day.

Just a money saving tip – green days are cheaper than red days so I just stick to green days all the time and don’t alternate. On green days the free food are carbs (potatoes/rice/ pulses/grains/pasta = cheap) and red days the free food is lean meat, which is more expensive.

PS. Can anyone let me have the SW password for this week?

Just popping in briefly in between mad bouts of work! Went to club tonight and loast another 3 1/2lbs, so really happy with that - only another 3lb to go from my little food-spree when I was taking my exams and I am back to the lowest I have reached on this diet... so far!

This weeks SW site password is 'broth'

Hopefully it will have calmed down by the weekend and I can read up on the thread and catch up with everyone and how you're all doing :)

(By the way I passed all my exams CeMAP 2 was 3 Distinctions and a Merit & CeMAP 3 was a Merit - work is well happy with me, I'm just chuffed it's all done!)
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out
  • Wow, well done on your passes and your weight loss. Bet you are on a massive high now.

Hello, can I join you all please?
Started at Weight Watchers 3 weeks ago and have lost 9 lbs. My aim was 2 lbs a week so I'm very happy so far especially since I have had a terrible week and I eat when I am down. :o
I am 5ft 5 and weigh nearly 14 stone. :o I have gained an awful lot of weight this year (gave up smoking on 4.1.05) and I have at last had my 'light bulb moment'. I spent a lot of this year thinking that I had to concentrate on not smoking and if that meant eating more, then so be it. Well, hopefully I am now strong enough to keep off the fags and control my eating as well. I have a 3 yr old daughter - I dont want to die of a smoking or weight related illness and leave her without a mother!!
I am used to being a size 12 and simply cannot handle the body I have aquired.
I have been reading this thread for a while and have been so impressed by you all and the support you offer. Up to now I have been too chicken to join in but now that I have started and the weight is shifting and I am motivated, I decided I would take the plunge.
I am a member of a gym and get to go about 2 sometimes 3 times a week (would love to go more but hubby works shifts so this is not always possible).
A colleague and I try to get out walking for 15-20 mins at lunchtime which also helps. Am drinking loads of water which is helping stave off the hunger pangs but it is sooooo difficult when everyone else is chomping away on crisps and chocolate.
Anyway, thanks for listening and keep up the good work. I'll let you know how I'm getting on.

A quick tip to all the ladies on this forum.
Don't despair if you're a barrel of fat - there are a great many men out there who find gut-buckets very attractive.
I should know - I'm married to one and believe you me it's a full-time job shovelling enough food down her to maintain her ideal weight ( for me ) of just under 18 stone.
We're coming up to our 25th wedding anniversary and we still go at it like every month is the rutting season - I just can't bounce her around as much as I used to.

Hi Saveit. I'm following the 'No Count' plan from Weightwatchers. I follow this myself at home as I can't afford £4-5 a week to get weighed :) I am extremely pleased with the loss. :D As it stands I've lost 15lb in 5 weeks. I'm hoping that this loss will actually slow down now as it's not healthy to regularly lose more than 1-2lb a week.

Just in case any body is interested this is how it works.

You eat 3 meals a day using food from a pre defined list. This includes fruit, veggies, pasta, rice, pulses, meat, fish, eggs etc. Pretty much all the healthy food. Use them any way you like to make delicious meals. No oil/fat, bread, chocolate etc.

You don't have to weigh or measure anything - the guideline is to stop when you're full. Not stuffed, just nicely full. You aim to control your portion sizes without feeling deprived by weighing things.

You then have up to 20 'points' a week for treats. These can be used for adding extras to your meal such as a slice of bread & butter. Or you could have a choccy bar etc as long as you don't go over the 20 points.

However, (this sounds complicated but isn't in practise). If you snack between meals you have to count any food as part of your 20 points unless you eat fruit. Even if it is a 'no count food', if you're not eating it as part of a meal then you must count it. The only things you don't have to count are fruit & veg. Eat these freely.

The way I've been working is eating only meals with ingredients from the list, snacking on fruit between meals. I don't have any treats during the week so I can then have a couple of bottles of wine at the weekend. I walk for an hour 2-3 times a week during my lunch break.

I guess the aim of this is to get into the habit of healthy eating and not feeling you're on a diet. I don't feel on a diet like I used to when I had to count and weigh things so I'm hoping it will be much easier to stick to when I reach my target weight.

This is how I interpret this diet, I don't go to Weightwatchers and am following on my own. So apologies if this is not strictly correct!

    Good luck everybody :T
