Well done, and what a good idea, although I think I'd celebrate 3 stone lost!

Well I have a long way to go and didn't want to be celebrating every 5 minutes ;) So I thought I'd do a real milestone loss as it would give me time to think up something nice to go with it :)

London show sounds nice, or a massage and pampering session? Needn't be girlie, here in Bristol we have the Relaxation Centre which is a super place to go with a partner.

Ohh now I had a massage when I was on holiday in Turkey a few years ago and it was wonderful! Also helped by the fact that the guy doing the massage was so fit!!! ;D
Or what about something you wouldn't dare have done 3 stone ago, like go-karting, snowboarding, windsurfing? I think I told the story on LW 1, 2 or 3 about the chap who lost stones and stones because he tried to buy a sports car and couldn't fit into it!

As for me, not a lot has happened this week, too much driving, not enough walking, and the discovery of a cinnamon bun coffee shop in Southampton ... must get back on track tomorrow.

At the moment I'm still not Active-Girl but I'm sure that when I am I would try out the windsurfing. I have some very unhappy memories of being at an adventure holiday when I was at school and they really struggled to find a wetsuit which would fit me :'( It was so embarrassing that I wished the ground could swallow me up whole and I wouldn't have to look at all the smirking laughing faces of the other school kids when they eventually found an adult size one that I could squeeze into.

You talking about the bun shop has made me think about one of my downfalls - McDonalds. Now I know it is crap fast food but the taste of it (when I last ate it months ago before the diet started!) was really nice. I can just imagine the taste of the 1/4lb with cheese - mmmmm. I've driven past a few branches of McDonalds this week and I've been finding it really hard to just drive on past. Once I even stopped in the car park, sat there for 10 minutes fighting with myself and then managed to somehow drive off again without venturing inside!

The way I fought myself was to think of all the time I had spent already, trying to lose weight and worrying that if I ate 1 burger then I wouldn't be able to resist next time and would just undo all the work I've already put in. So try hard Sue and just think how much longer it will take to reach the shape/weight you want to be if you give in to the bun urge!

I'm still thinking about your treat, VelvetGlove, probably because it will be a long time before I'll deserve a big one like that.

And maybe it's me, but I cannot imagine how you can have lost 3 stone without going down a clothes size or two. But your body image may not have caught up with the New You. So you may be imagining you still look like a sack of spuds, even if you don't. Plus, if you haven't done a lot of clothes shopping recently you may not realise that they do marginally more attractive sacks these days, in some places. ;D

Aww thanks Sue :) My boobs have shrunk a bit thank goodness and my back isn't as wide as it was as my bra is now done up on the smallest hooks rather than the largest.

I think you may be right about my self body image, but I have such a long way to go that it will be a year or so before I am feeling better about my size.
(Now I have the reverse problem: if I look at photos of myself I sometimes think I look really fat, but I don't normally think of myself as fat even when I look in the mirror. It's made it very hard for me to get started, because I know intellectually that I am - in clinical terms - obese, but I don't feel obese, I don't think I look obese, and all my colleagues shout me down when I say I am obese. It does help to be tall!)

I know what you mean! When I look in the mirror I just see me, but photographs seem to catch a moment in time when you think you look ok but then they prove to you just how awful you looked!
Anyway, back to you. I also worry on your behalf that it may take longer than a couple of months to lose that next stone, because the less you have to lose the harder it is.

Thanks for your worrying, but I have loads of weight to lose. I need to lose around 10 stone to be back into a healthy range I think. I know the doctor would be extremely happy if I shed that much weight and I'm sure I would be too! Since I still have such a lot to lose I don't think it will slow down but if it does then it is only fair I guess. It didn't go on overnight, rather it took 15 or 20 years to get this bad so it will just be a case of removing it in little phases.
What I'm wondering is, how about booking a personal shopper session at Debenhams? I've heard good reports: you get a nice cup of coffee and a chat at the start about what you want. She checks your size, and she goes running round the store bringing back things for you to try on privately. If you don't want to buy anything, you don't have to.

Now the beauty of this is that the session doesn't cost anything, so you could go for it now just to get some ideas of what you can wear now that you haven't thought of. Or just to buy something that you need anyway, which isn't a particular treat because you need it, and you've still got that treat waiting for you!

Ohhh! Now I do like the idea of that! I may have to wait until I'm back into the size range that Debenhams stocks (don't know how high they go as I haven't clothes shopped for ages & when I do I normally end up in Evans just to get it all out of the way as quickly and painlessly as possible!)

But I think I may save the personal shopper for my 7 stone milestone :) Give me something else to look forwards to for that! (Yes girls, I am in this for the long haul...) Also means I can maybe enjoy the clothes shopping experience for once :)

Welcome back Sheel! :) Glad you had a good holiday. I think you are right, walking seems to really be a good form of exercise (I hate that dreaded word as it brings to mind lycra dressed skinny women daintily perspiring using the gym equipment. When I have been in the past in my big baggy t-shirt and leggings I look like I've been in the swimming pool after a session! But I haven't been to a gym in years now so am only going on fading memories...)

Oh Cathy, sorry to hear about your mum. I hope she is perking up a little and didn't break anything. You might want to try some Arnica Gel on any bruising as it brings it out quickly and seems to get rid of bruising fasting than just leaving it alone. I bet your son has now realised that there isn't a housework fairy to magically pick up and wash discarded clothing and have food ready in the fridge for heating up ;) I had shingles once years ago and it was very itchy but other than that I don't think it was too bad. Just watch out for anyone suddenly getting chicken pox as I managed to give it to a work colleague as I didn't know I had shingles. Also I'm sure he knows to stay away from pregnant women due to the risk of infection.

Welcome back shazrazmataz :) Crikey, viral meningitis sounds really serious! Glad you are through the worst of it now, nice weight loss but as Sheel said what a really awful way to lose it. No wonder you are feeling tired out and weak! *big hugs* and take it easy, we'll still be here when you are all better again :)

Now for the weekly weigh in - lost another pound this week which I'm surprised at, as I didn't do hardly any walking this week. The branches I had to visit, I visited by car and walked maybe 20 yards from various car parks to the sites! Will be visiting a couple of branches in Brighton next week so will park the car at the hotel and I'm intending to walk to them so should easily do 5000 steps a day on 3 days :)

Good luck with the weight in folks :) I'm now off to the nurse to have a pill check and can't wait to see her face when she sees I've lost 2 stone since they last weighed me ;) I bet I get the exercise lecture, but I'll just say not interested until I've lost another 3 stone ;)

Hey Gals, I am so glad to see you all back here ..... sorry to hear about the troubles going on :( Hope you all start feeling better soon and problems get sorted :-*

Velvet .... am experiencing the same thing with my coat .... now I can shut it lol lol .... used to use a long scarf to keep me warm down the middle during winter ;D

I want to go shopping for new gear .... but I seem to be loosing inches at the mo .... everything is dropping, so am making do with all my things from 'the smaller days' .... thankfully my taste in fashion is classic and not 'of the second' lol lol

My back is still playing up a little - so have to be VERY careful .... don't wanna put it out again before our holiday :(.... would also like to lose a couple of pounds before then. Hope to get down to 10st 7lbs ::)

Someone told me I looked half the size I was when they first met me (had 3 people at work notice on friday and got very sweet compliments) - so I went a bit nuts on a chunky kit kat last night after a bad day shopping :( also bought a cheesecake :( didn't actually get round to eating it - am waiting for other half and friends to come round, then will only have a small slice, as i'll HAVE too share ;D

Just checked BMI index (after reading Blue-Kat's post) was 36 when I started and now am 26.7 :o:o Wow, that has just knocked me for 6 :o won't be long before I am "normal" according to BMI lol lol

Linda hun, concentrate on getting better. As for bruising remedies - are you allowed to try Tiger's balm? Ask your doctor. Seems to cost a lot for a little tub, but it lasts forever and can be used on lots of aches, bruises etc. My mum had really bad 'cracked' skin on her feet - she put tigers balm on one night (covered with a sock as red balm stains) next morning, washed her feet and came up very smooth and soft - cracks where gone :o almost as soft as a baby's bum as my Dad said lol.

Sorry this is sooo long .... but keep up the good work. I am noticing a change in you all now. As Cathy says, next time, lets not stand in profile as we won't be able to see each other ;D ;D
I can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....

How do you know I ain't sitting here butt naked?!?!

I thunk I've made you think for a minute!

Fortunately that cinnamon bun shop was in Southampton, and I was only there for the day, and the one in Bristol closed down a while ago :( And they are very expensive which does make me keep them for special treats.

Now what keeps me out of McDonalds is the taste of their coffee! I'm no gourmet, but it really does taste disgusting.

About an hour ago i was going to post this but thought no, i'll go dig out the scales instead, which have always been in the kitchen since i bought them.

Could i find them ? NO!

But i did a mass tidy, cleaned the floor and am about to go to bed where i think i might find them hiding in our bedroom.

We've only a tiny house and lots of clutter so to find anything is an hours work ( or so it seems!)

Anyway I tried the Atkins Diet and didn't last a week, I may have been doing something wrong but in less than a week i was sick of the sight of meat, loved the cream in my coffee but was really feeling faint and lifeless.

The only thing about it I thought was worth it was the sudden loss of sugar cravings in about 3 days.

I know i need to lose a lot of weight, I ask myself how its pounded on over the past four years, a lot of it is to do with the computer/ playstation, which i was introduced back then, leading to lack of exercise and eating quick snacks in order to go back to my new hobby.

Not only that i started an evening job which screwed up my eating habits, and still does really if i get lazy and go for the frozen crap.

So its about time I did something about it and seeing this thread here has given me the nudge in the right direction.

I look forward to sharing my victory's and hopefully no defeats with you all and will begin tomorrow with my weigh in if i ever get to bed that is :D

Hola Cee ....... glad to have you joining us :D

Just think of all those calories you burned whilst trying to find the scales ;D Good start already ;)

Sheel ... just checked that link. I would have to lose 10-11lbs to be "normal" which would bring me down to 10st with 24.84 BMI. I was aiming for 9st, praying for 8st. But thinking about it now, and taking into account my body shape, 8st seems wrong, far too skinny :-/ But hey, it's great to know that 10st is my BMI target, 'cos that is easier (she says ::)) to reach than 9st ;D

will weigh myself later and post results ;)
I can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....
