Ok before i disclose my weight i'll give you all a laugh, I didn't find the scales in the bedroom either :(

A collegue at work has pc problems and thinks i'm a tech support person the way he goes on, anyway, he gave me his pc to check over cuz he's such a plonker and screws it every time!

My hubby said to me this morning, clear the kitchen to make way for the pc to be set up (clear the kitchen!!! Insult or what?) Ok i hadn't cleared the pile of books and catalogues off my pc desk but it was late and i was ready for my bed.....

After putting a load of washing in i turned my eyes towards the wiring at the back of my desk and guess what i found.... the ruddy scales.

I'd looked behind the desk last night but at the other side, the desk is one of those corner units and the things had slid off my scanner where i'd put them. Grrrr

Now that i've completely bored you all to death i'll let you know the nitty gritty.

    A couple of months ago i weighed 15st 7lb
    Today I weighed 14st 8lb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is a good start to a diet.

Either that or tidying up for an hour between midnight and 1am is somehow a magical feat :D

What have i done? Not a lot really but I do know when to stop eating these days, if i feel full, i won't finish off the food although i was brought up not to waste it.

Another reason I do this is I suffer IBS and if I eat too much or 'pack my stomach' as i say it, i suffer big time for it, so i eat little and often now too.

I'm looking forward to any support you give as i don't have much at work, my only collegue being a young man who eats himself through 3 bars of choc a night, thankfully not offering me any and eats so you can hear him, if you know what i mean :(

I checked out my BMI and it was 37 which is not good, but i do know i'm overweight, obese, although being small at 5f 2" its hard to see were it goes.

But my health is in check now, I feel a basic cold really hard. I've found myself taking more time off work sick more now than ever and i know the weight is a major factor because of this.

So in reading this thread my thoughts with all of you who are suffering from a sickness and feeling low because you want to get going with the weight loss.

I'm just about to start an open universitiy course and i've just got over 3 weeks of freedom before it really gets going and was planning on kick starting my exercise regeme only to land a cold which took me 2 weeks to get over. One of those that make you feel dead all over muscles and all...

So even though i'm going to be sitting around studying a lot i've got to incorporate at least 30 minutes exercise a day if i can.
I want to feel healthy again, looking good is just a bonus :)

Sheel ... just checked that link. I would have to lose 10-11lbs to be "normal" which would bring me down to 10st with 24.84 BMI. I was aiming for 9st, praying for 8st. But thinking about it now, and taking into account my body shape, 8st seems wrong, far too skinny :-/ But hey, it's great to know that 10st is my BMI target, 'cos that is easier (she says ::)) to reach than 9st ;D
I'm glad you've checked out where your BMI should be taking you, I think it's easy to become obsessed with a particular weight target which ain't necessarily realistic! And then to keep dieting and dieting while our bodies scream "stop!"

Commiserations to all who've been sickly, poorly, beset by problems etc. Just try not to comfort eat to make up for it! Shaz, ginger is good for vomiting so if you can cope with ginger tea or nibbling the odd ginger biscuit it may help. There's a really strong ginger tea you may find in health food or Caribbean shops: we all swear by it at work!

Certainly did. I had a vision of a desk ...

    ... somewhat cluttered like mine...

... with a scanner on it, and I know some scanners have a curved lid, so that's what I can see ...

...with a pair of bathroom scales balanced on top of the scanner, just a little bit precariously ...

... and then attempting to climb on top of that lot to weigh herself ...

    ... is a not very tall ...

... and by her own admission not very slim ...

    ... Cee!

Well I'm glad Traf has made some progress on behalf of us all over the last fortnight, I was up for Cathy's challenge but my body thought otherwise, and despite my best efforts nothing is happening. Then this weekend I've had a rotten cold, did a little bit of walking yesterday but not enough, then today after spending the morning in bed I decided I would get out in the fresh air despite the mild drizzle. Daftly thought 20 minutes out and 20 back would be good for me, but it wasn't, after 20 minutes I was wishing I was back home, and then I got lost (world's worst sense of direction!) so was out for an hour. My shoulders felt all rheumaticky, my legs just felt funny, and my head had its regular cotton wool feeling.

AND I missed the start of my fave film ever, The King and I.

    did it!! 10st 10 1/2 lbs still ;D

Funny thing was .... weighed myself around 6pm, weighed in at 10st 12 1/2lbs before my dindins, then just before jumping in shower at about 10pm, weighed myself again and was back to 10st 10 1/2lbs ??? Not sure what's going on there :-/

Anyway, Just wanted to check something. When you weigh yourself, should you be in the nudy? Cos I always do it with clothes on ::)

And, is there going to be a challenge this week? or for the next 2 weeks?

How's about 2lb each by Oct 17th (sunday)?
I can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....

How do you know I ain't sitting here butt naked?!?!

I thunk I've made you think for a minute!

Aha! Well they say laughter is the best medicine, and as we all still have rotten colds around here, I now present a new vision, in which ...

    ... there is a scanner ...

    ... with a curved lid ...

    ... underneath a desk ...

... on which a set of bathroom scales are precariously balanced ...

    ... and now ...

... crouching on the scales ...

... trying not to fall off or hold onto the wall ...

... poised rather like a gargoyle but with an extremely beautiful face and character ...

    ... is Cee!

Probably taken this one about as far as it goes!

I think the important thing is to be consistent, and the only way to do that is to have either nothing on or the same thing every time - like a dressing gown. I don't think everyone strips off at WW or SW, do they?

But personally, I need all the help I can get so it's with nothing on, AFTER I've been to the loo. I've usually drunk a cup of tea first so maybe I should try before the tea tomorrow, anything to feel the advantage of the overlong walk I took this afternoon ...

Although actually it's not going to make a huge heap of difference unless you wear very heavy clothes. Like full motorbike leathers and boots ...

Mind you what's with the 1/2 pounds you post? My scales don't do 1/2 pounds :( which is clearly why I never lose anything ...

And well done, keep up the good work, you clearly didn't keep the biscuit tin beside you when you did your back in!

Ohhh! Now I do like the idea of that! I may have to wait until I'm back into the size range that Debenhams stocks (don't know how high they go as I haven't clothes shopped for ages & when I do I normally end up in Evans just to get it all out of the way as quickly and painlessly as possible!)

But I think I may save the personal shopper for my 7 stone milestone :) Give me something else to look forwards to for that! (Yes girls, I am in this for the long haul...) Also means I can maybe enjoy the clothes shopping experience for once :)
Well you could ring Debenhams and ask what size range they do, and that will give you another target to aim for! As I said, because it doesn't cost anything, and you don't have to buy anything, you could do this more than once! ;D

Another treat suggestion for Velvet Glove, Ally and anyone else in need of it.

If you have never had your 'colours' done then a colour consultation may be a fun thing to do. Don't know who does it these days: used to be Colour Me Beautiful. I think they also do 'style' sessions where they will suggest what shapes work for you so maybe when I am ready to emerge from 'baggy' I shall go for this myself.

I haven't had this done properly, but a few years back I did find a daytime class which was basically providing the same service for a fraction of the cost. Of course you had to share the tutor's time with a few others, but that was quite good as we all 'oohed' and 'aahed' as different coloured scarves draped over our heads transformed how we looked.

I did have to argue with her about whether I could wear fuschia pink, however, so if you have a fave colour it's worth wearing it to the consultation. Fuscia pink is not officially one of 'my' colours, but she had to agree that it does suit me. Phew. I'd have been left with no wardrobe ...

It got me back to wearing blue occasionally! Turned off it by years of school and guide uniform, but it does actually suit me.
