And now, a cracker joke, because we shouldn't take this too seriously all the time, and to celebrate the fact that I didn't put any weight on despite a lovely meal yesterday evening and forgetting I was going out for said meal and also hence eating a better lunch than I'd intended ...
What creatures are always worried about their weight?
Fish, because they take their scales everywhere with them!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
One piece of advice i would heed is to get a stationary bike and do 15 to 30mins, depending on ability etc, FIRST thing in the morning and perhaps last thing at night as well. Other forms of aerobic activitity first thing in the morning can subsittute but its hard enough getting on a stationary bike in the comfort of your own house first thing in the morning, let alone finding time at that time in the morning to go to the gym.
Sensible diet is of course vital.
i'm off to post a I wanna stationary bike thread...0 -

Rosemary Conley's Inch Loss Plan is good, I'm going back on it when the kids are back at school. And I've got a new video, so I'm gonna dig out my yoga video and get back into that too ;DBulletproof0

I am new to this topic - apologies if I butt in but ... for those who have alot to lose or their weight really affects their health look at this option. Go to your DRs and ask if you have EXERCISE ON PRESCRIPTION in your area. Basically your DR will refer you to a gym and you get a booklet of vouchers to get £1 off a session. In Birmingham we have whats called "Passport to leisure" for those on low incomes. Combine that with the voucher means I can go to the gym (which includes pool) for £1 ;D . The fitness instructor will set you on a plan thats tailor made for you and will monitor your progress.
Something else I have heard thats in the pipeline (coming this yr) is Weight Watchers On Prescription. If it works the same way as exercise it means WW will be financially accessable to those on low incomes too . ;D0 -

ive decided that a new lifestyle is in order and my partner and sister are gonna do it tooso with support its much better
i wish every one luck when starting a diet, its the toughest thing but so rewarding when it works!!0 -

I went on Xenical 2 yrs ago and lost 40lbs in 4 months . You only get the side effects if you eat too much fat . I never got any side effects but I was a bit obsessive about my fat intake at the time. Xenical is not a miracle pill, you still have to watch everything you eat.
I am about to go on Xenical again after the new yr. That combined with the exercise on prescription will hopefully see the weight dropping off me.
I forgot to mention that when you ask your DR for Xenical there are certain criteria you have to meet.
Firstly you must prove you can lose weight.
My DR asks that you lose 5lbs in 1 month. Make sure you get your weight noted before by the DR.
You must lose a minimum 5lbs per month.
Theres no point in being on these pills if you dont lose weight so you will be taken off them if you dont lose weight.
You must have a high BMI .
I believe (though dont quote me) that for diabetics it has to be more than 27 , 29 for other people.0 -
iam type two diabetic and have a bmi of 34 :-/
the doctor did put me on xenical but as i have ulcerative colitis as well, it made the toilet problem worse.
i agree they are very good for weight loss but also cause iam vegetarian i didnt like the fact the capsules have beef gelatine in them so was a bit funny about it, i even phoned the company to see if they had any vegetarian alternative, but the answer was no :-/
so iam a bit of a problem to myself really, but hey i will get there in the end
i think i will be taking another trip to drs thoughi think hes getting fed up of me by now
thanks for your advice purdy_1, its taken with gratitude0 -
My mother and father in law have been eating Rosemary Conley recipes for years and have hardly lost any weight at all.
They started eating the weightwatchers way since May this year (my mother in law goes just for the support she gets). Father in law has lost 2 stones, mother in law 3 and a half stones.
We saw them for the first time since May yesterday and she especially looks great.
It is the first time I have seen her in a pair of trousers that didn't have an elasticated waste!
My husband says ever since he was a child she has been big, this is the first time he has seen her this small (think she is about a size 18 now).0
