  • Hiya :hello:

I have been reading some of these posts - can join please :D

Anyways my story - last year I took up Gym membership in March for 6 months, I enjoyed it knowning that I was loosing the weight. I am a 6' Lad with a nice weight of 17s when I started - over the course of the months from March with the plan of "healthy" eating I dropped from 17s to 15s 2lbs also Jean sizes from 40" to 34" so something to be mighty impressed about - I felt good.

Then this happened - due to a major upset at work (fire destoryed the packing station) my hours all went all over the place. I was on the 07:00 to 15:30 shift and that soon change to god knows what - I can never have a set time, so my eating pattens and gym pattens so was way out of of the system.

This was between Sept to Now, at present in my "daily" job I am working 10 hour shifts and traveling 45-50 min each way every day. I just can not fit everything in the limited time I have left after work and their stupid shift system - for example today & tomorrow I have to work 4pm to 2am, so I won't land in the front door until about 02:50 am tomorrow

Now I have been on the dreaded scales this morning and have popped back to 15st 10lb a increase of 8lbs (consider the eating mince pies and lots of chocie over xmas as a stress buster is my total downfall) So I am somewhat very pleased that not a "BIG" gain in weight after what I've been though in the past few months.

Now my goal before the summer months in July (6 Month goal) - I would love to get to 30/32" Jeans again and weight in the region that I can feel mighty happy with in the area of 12st 6lb to 13st - then I can start building my muscle mass again on my arms. All my teenage years and young adult life I never been slim and my feelings are little destoryed as I cannot face the dating game at the moment until I sorted myself out. (Sorry but my ex girlfriend has no respect of her body and it brings me in great shame that she has total put on alot of weight over the last year)

I am looking forward to a job offer at the local school as a ICT technician as I can give up the daily 50 mile grind of the round trip to work and start walking/biking the 1.5 miles to the school hence getting my healthy plan going again and getting back to the gym for the weight training. So true a MSE way I can save on fuel costs and better life for me :)

I do want to start jogging outside but I am sooooo dam shy and think I would look a total prat :) I even consider doing it in the evening dusk and see if that is any better? But I just don't have the will power at the moment.... .... ... gezz I must get it started soon - TBH I make purfect ;) little excuses to get out of things...

  • Hi Everyone,

Joining this one too. Started SW in September after being on holiday and gettings pics developed .. gulp ! Have lost 14 pounds and then due to work gave up going to class just before xmas. But popped in here over the weekend and had been given the kick up the !!!!!! to rejoin.

So headed back on Monday night dreading it ..but woohoo have lost half a pound (toblerone one by one cant have that much fat in them then !!)

So back on track and raring to go.

Have been good this week at work, taking sandwiches and eating noodles at lunchtime. Dinner not been too bad but going to spend the weekend devising receipes etc that are quick and easy to make and full of goodness.

So thank you everyone, if it wasnt for you fine people on here then I may have never went back.

    Good luck all xxx

I can't vouch for this myself, but a colleague runs with the local club and says they are all EVER so friendly. That might buck up your confidence to run on your own as well.

But who cares if you look like a total prat? (Which I'm quite sure you wouldn't anyway.) You're alive, aren't you, and planning to stay that way?

I'm not one for running: used to, but my back wouldn't cope with it these days. Plus put off by DH, who used to come in after a run in a state of total collapse! But walking is really excellent exercise if you don't feel up to jogging - have you looked at the Walking the Way to Health website? That might get you started, once you're in your new job, and then you can work your way up to jogging later if you want to.

OH NO. It is worse than I thought! Silly me read my scale wrong! The hand went two marks past the 14 stone-so I thought it was 2 lbs, but each slash is not a lb, but two. So I am really 14 stone 4 lbs. Only I could "put" on weight by looking at a scale.
I have also got to stop stepping on the scale everyday. It is mightly depressing.

I am going to join in this too. Over last year I lost 3 1/2 stone on SW - stopped going in august and yes you've guessed have put a stone back on. However, I am determined to get this weight off this year - so, at the moment I weigh in at 16st 8lb.

Thanks to the poster who put the SW passowrd on, this means that I will be able to accurately get sin values in stead of invariably underestimating.

    Good luck to everyone!!
  • 11st 5lb today! Put on 1lb this week :( I think I've been eating far too much portion wise, and have been really lax with drinking (ie too much). I have been walking loads though which I guess means it could have been worse. Despite taking soup to work, it did have lots of butter in (HM courtesy of the Oldstylers :D )so it wasn't that healthy. Oh, and the left over mince pie and toffee in the office probably didn't help :o

That means I am 6lb heavier than before Christmas. My jeans that were loose are now starting to pinch and I really don't want to get back to my previous weight.

Am now officially back on the wagon!!!

My new mini-target is to get back to 10st 13lb (pre-xmas) and then I'll allow myself to wear my new jeans I bought in the sales.

Hope everybody else did better than I did!

But that's what you said you were in your previous post, I thought?

Yup. Weight does fluctuate from day to day. You could try measuring yourself as well and then seeing on a monthly basis how you're doing.

Hooooraaah, 4lb for me - only 5st 13lb to go!! Not as happy as I'd like to be cos I've just remembered I'm going to be 44 next week so not only am I short (5ft 1") very overweight but I'm also very middle aged!!! And, just to rub my nose in it I spend all day surrounded by young slim girly students who have their whole lives ahead of them. Sorry, just aware that 50's not so far away. Hope everyone else does well in weigh in - good luck!!
