  • Hello,
I've just spent an awfully long time reading through previous posts and would like to join in,

I've never officially joined a diet club but have done the WW with my mum and sister in the past. I've also tried south beach, and had some success. :rotfl:

I'm a real yo-yo dieter - i vary between 10 1/2 and 12 1/2 stone. Was doing really well last year as i was planning for my wedding - then had a rough few months at work and piled lots on again. Then lost 16 pounds to get to 11st4 for the actual day. Since October, i've been off work with some mystery illness - got to go to hospital on Thursday for it.

Anyway - long story to short. I need to eat better to recover from the illness and lose the stodge. I got weighed on the 2/01 and was 12st 1 - eek. I've managed to lose 1/2 a stone since then through detoxing and drinking juices/smoothies. I need motivation though, :T

can i join you lot - i can chip in a lot about what you should do after dieting on and off for about 12 years.

  • Cha97michelle, 1/2 stone in a week - well done, but don't go too mad and not be able to keep it up. I'll include it in our 'team total' though, it'll make us sound great!

Now, about this Paul McKenna thing, is it the cd with the book 'I can Make you Thin'? I have a pristine copy of this on my bookshelf, present from a slim niece (!!!!!). Anyway, maybe it's worth a play.

Everyone is getting going, how's everyone doing on exercise? I've been swimming loads, I can't face the gym yet.

Also, if anyone knows of any free trial offers for gyms/clubs for January, they would be great to post here, see how long we can 'gym tart!'.

Someone at work has set me the goal of drinking 3L of water a day, she reckons that in itself will stop me being hungry.

    It's so hard though.

  • Weighed myself last Friday, ready for this week, hopefully there will be some weight loss.

I got the GI Guide in the times, looks interesting, but for now I will try to loss weight just be reducing portion size and exercising.

I aim to exercise at least three times a week. Although I am a member of a gym, I prefer to go for a walk twice a week and go to the gym at least once a week.
I went swimming for a few months last year, once some weight has dropped off I will probably go back again.

Good luck to everyone, can't wait to post a successful weight loss on Friday.
  • Hiya Folks,

Ok I have been a spectator on this thread for a month or so and have decided to take the plunge and join you.

Started W.W. Points on boxing day (26pt allowance) but don't go to the class as it was like a grannies meeting / coffee morning and the leader was worse than useless. Both a friend and I felt that she was only after the money, as she frequently missed key goals and targets of members, which was disheartening and gave no real encouragement so we gave up going to classes.

    Anyway enough blurb.

Starting weight on boxing day was eek 16st 12lbs. I'm 5ft 10ins approx and no just as I'm tall doesnt mean I can carry it well - weigh day to be Monday.

Weight loss week 1 - 3lbs, down to 16st 9lbs and period due, but not really had a pre-mental crap attack this time. (choc my weakness and why if you have 7 mars bars in the cupboard at this time do you not only want 8 but NEED 4358723508?)

Weight loss week 2 - 1lb, wee bit disappointed but I did have 2 meals out (friend over from glasgow and my sons birthday so cake too). Back to uni so hopefully will get back into a proper routine. Did walk there yesterday (45min walk so thats my exercise for the day other than the walking to and from classes / up / downstairs etc).

I actually like real food and meals and dare I say it that exercise thing but just got into a bad habbit of snacking on rubbish particularly when stressed and putting off the exercise till tomorrow, just never sure which tomorrow.

Oh and for the folks that feel that they cant control their chocolate urges, do you know that it can actually be a sign of a magnesium deficiency and it might be worth taking a supplement to see if that helps. Eating / craving mints can be a sign of anemia so again worth a trip to docs to get it checked.

Good luck everyone who has started and well done to all those who have lost. Your an inspiration!!!!! :T

Paul McKenna's doing something about weight loss on the TV - I think there was a programme on Monday or maybe Tuesday, sorry I don't even remember which channel but pretty sure it was EITHER terrestrial or Channel 5. that might help those of you keen to see what he's got to say but without shelling out for the CD or book ...

May I please join you? I am a PhD student, hopefully finishing up over the summer. Over the years at uni I have put on a whopping 3 stones  ! I have been trying to be good and eat well. Going ok until my Italian friend instigated an italian christmas cake and nutella incident! I currently weigh 14 stone 4 lbs :o .

I am really more concerned about my "size" as opposed to my weight, so i have made a chart with my measurements to help keep track of where I am losing it.

Problem areas are my tummy and bum. Will be doing crunches like a maniac!

    Good luck everyone!

  • Regarding Paul McKenna.
From what I've seen you can pick it up pretty cheap from play.com £7.50 for the audio book CD and I've seen some bargains on ebay!!!
