  • Did you get the Times today? I couldn't find the 'Style' bit of the paper which is supposed to have the feature in it. Is it one of the many extras? If so, think mine was missing - what a load of gummff you get with a Sunday paper! My daughter does a paper round too, can't believe people pay £1.60 for that regularly!!!

Congrats to all you guys who have lost so far. :T Keep up the good work.

I weighed myself Friday........ May post the scarey amount next week.
Haven't got off to a good start i'm afraid.

A group of us got together Friday and did home made pizzas and played poker all night (no money) :p .Drank far too much, and had too many crisps. Cheap night, but very bad food/booze wise.
Have also just been to my brothers and eaten a huge bowl of spanish stew and buttered bread. Lovely, but feel very guilty now.

So, plan is to check out the cupboards later, and plan meals for tomorrow, to avoid stuffing my face when i am starving.
Also i am delivering 650 yellow pages over the next couple of days (trying to earn a bit extra to clear debts), so hopefully that will help exercise wise.

Will let you know how i get on.

    Good luck
    L
    What's he building in there???
Debt at highest £30,450 (Dec 05)
    Debt at lowest £9, 113 (Jul 07)
How much did we over spend whilst on maternity leave

Yup. The little book and the Style magazine were both in a sealed plastic bag with lots of other stuff. It's a small 'handbag-sized' book. There is a number to contact if yours was missing - do you need me to dig that out?

TBH I wasn't that impressed with what was in the Style supplement. There's recipes, but nothing I'd want to go to the effort of cooking. And an excercise plan: start by walking or cycling for an hour! Then the next day walk for half an hour and follow an excruciating exercise plan. "Always consult your GP before starting an exercise plan" - and trust me, if you aren't pretty darn fit and used to exercise and start this plan, you'll be seeing your GP if not the inside of an ambulance within a week!

To be fair, they are suggesting the exercise plan if you want to blitz start your diet and lose a stone in a month, but as people know I'm not a huge fan of the D word at the best of times, and feel it's best to start something sustainable, both wrt to what you eat and how much you move!

Another thing I wasn't impressed by were the menu suggestions in the little book - hands up if you're about to start half coating strawberries in chocolate as a snack! I mean a) strawberries in January? and b) faffing about with melting chocolate when you can just eat it from the packet! :rotfl: Yes, you can have a little bit of chocolate on their menu suggestions! So at least some sensible suggestions!

Anyway, the list of high and low GI foods will be useful, but the menu suggestions are really not practical for me. While I might eat porridge for breakfast on a good day, I am not about to start cooking mushrooms and scrambling eggs and I don't know what else to ensure that my plate consists of half a plate of veg, a quarter of protein and a quarter of 'low' GI carbs at each and every meal!

I really must re-read the F-Plan diet menu suggestions again. And make up some Fibre-Filler. That's the only 'diet' I've ever managed to follow. And very simple: High Fibre, Low Fat. Even I can manage that ...
Signature removed for peace of mind

  • I started Paul McKenna's Easy Weight Loss audio book last week and my appetite and eating habits have completely changed.
I am now only eating when I feel hungry(no snacking) and that's only about twice a day. I've stopped my life long habit of rising from bed and immediately putting on coffee and toast(well I still have the coffee).
For the last week, it's been around 2pm before I feel the need to eat anything and even then it's only a sandwich, and after that it's about 8 or 9pm before I feel I need to eat anything else-and that's not much.
My usual need to eat something sweet at least!!! once a day has gone and I have this strange urge to eat healthy foods!!!
    I can't explain it????
So Paul McKenna audio book/hockery pockery has done something to my unconscious.
Has this happened to anyone else?
By the way I'm a mental health nurse and am usually Mr Cynical+++++

  • Morning, may I join in your weekly weigh in please?? I've just got on the scales and have reached my highest weight ever (11st 5) - At this present time I'm nearly as wide as I am high.

I'm a mature student now and can't afford Weight Watchers classes but need the motivation of declaring my weight loss to keep me on the path of righteousness during the week!!
It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.
