He said 'I guess you'll be wanting it to take photos of...' and patted his stomach (customer was clearly heavily pregnant). I creased up at her response when she looked him in the eyes and completely dead pan said 'No. I just like eating alot of cakes...' She had a great sense of humour.
I admit I have done this to a couple of people who haven't seen me for a while and don't know I am pregnant. It's great fun (for me!)
I was on a packed train a while back and a guy got up to offer his seat to someone standing in the door area. One woman said 'me?' and he said 'no, the old one..I don't mean old I mean the one with the grey hair' the trouble was, the woman he was referring to did not see the funny side AT ALL. I felt so bad for the poor guy!I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

My late husband congratulated his SIL on her pregnancy (she'd been trying for ages) and she nearly decked him as she wasn't pregnant (she'd somehow developed a very pronounced bump that she's retained over two decades now, even after she did have children).
The poor guy was so unnerved by it, he's never congratulated another pregnant woman unless there was someone else there congratulating her before him!0 -
I changed job after I finished maternity leave with my eldest son. Up til then, the only person who ever rang me was OH. On my first day of my new job, I answered the phone for the very first time. It was the boss wishing me well on my first day. As we rang off, I said "Love you!" out of habit. Soooo embarrassing! When people from other departments rang me, I used to get, "aww, no "love you" today? Maybe tomorrow". It was all good natured but it took a good 6 months to settle down.0

"I really think you'd better come down now" Said to my then 7 year old daughter when she was 12 feet up a cliff. She immediately fell and went splat onto the tarmac path below!
Other than a huge bump which appeared instantly, she was fine and even walked home!0 -

lol I did something very similar with my boss too. I knocked him with my elbow him as I was going past him once and said "sorry babe".

These last two posts remind me of the embarrassment of calling the teacher "Mum"!My most embarrassing one was saying to a man with a small child in a trolley who was helping his son choose some soap;" could you pick one for me too please 'cos I'm a very dirty girl" !!! He looked at me and we both laughed.Norn Iron Club member 4730

Got another one.... Few years ago we had a lovely neighbour well into her 80's who suddenly became convinced she was dying . She doted on our little boy and a few days before her birthday me, DH and little one happened to pop in. After hearing for a while of how she wouldn't be here this time next week or make her birthday on Thursday we were leaving when l said 'right we'll pop in on Thursday..... if you're still around'
DH was mortified, as was l as soon as the words left my lips.
Oh and she's still around love her, well into her 90's now and in good health.

Not me, but my mother. Before she met my dad, she was asked out by a young man who worked on the bins. They arranged to meet outside the cinema; however, my mother decided that she didn't want to go out with him - instead of letting him down gently, she went to the cinema, swept past him with her nose in the air, and went insideto watch the film anyway.
Fast forward a period of time, and she met my dad. He'd decided on first sight that he was going to marry her, so meeting his family came fairly soon afterwards.
I'm sure you can imagine the colour of her face when she was introduced to one of his older brothers - who she'd last seen standing outside the cinema ...0 -
