No iMac refresh at WWDC

Just saying their focus is elsewhere and its not unlike apple to overprice underpowered hardware.
Yes, but what you lose in power you gain in superior build quality and design.
Yes you could build a desktop PC with the same spec's for less, but not an all-in-one, they're comparible in price when looked at like for like.
Even if you do find an all in one PC with the sanme spec but slightly cheaper that's when Apple's build quality, customer service and design makes it worth the extra outlay.
Look at the exisiting iMac, almost a year old and still looks better than any other all-in-one.0 -

I'm not interested in the slightest in an all-in-one, way to limited if you ask me!
I find it mildly amusing that you have gone from stating yourself and I quote "The stock iMac @ £999 is way out of day and grossly over priced now" - which I agree with and thanked you for - to now going on the defensive for apple because I'm agreeing with you???:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Its a known fact that apple over-charge for hardware, they always have and always will. You only need to view their website to see it.
I see you're rolling out the usual fallacies about apple build quality, design, customer service, etc, etc, to try and defend against something you've said. Should I step out of this and let you argue with yourself?;)
Are you the only one allowed to criticise apple???0 -
I feel another popcorn moment approaching.
Dammit, have some anyway....How do I add a signature?0 -

Exactly, form over function.0 -
Having just finished taking apart a 1.8ghz G5 Powermac 10 minutes ago, I have to say that the old sausage of build quality isn't *just* something trotted out by blinded-by-the-light Apple-fans.
Ok, I wouldn't want to be a LC-g5 owner right now, unless I got a very good warranty deal, but on the whole I can agree with it.0 -

When I say grossly over priced, I only say it because it's getting a bit long in the tooth now. If they released a new iMac tomorrow, it would compete against virtually any all-in-one PC, and the build quality and design make it would that little bit of extra cash.
The myth of Apple products costing way more than their PC counterparts is just that, a myth. They only become a little bit pricy when they've been out for a while as they don't refresh their product line up as much as PC manufacturers.
If you look at the stock 21.5" iMac @ £999 which has been out for around 10 months and compare it with current all-in-one PC's you'll see that it still competes on price and spec.0 -

You have to compare a all-in-one PC against an iMac to get a true comparison.
I don't agree with the point you make over the form-factor because first and foremost it is a computer comprised of standard components, therefore a direct comparison with others is perfectly reasonable.0 -

So by you're logic we can compare tablets with workstations? After all they're both comprised of standard components.
Of course you can't, a desktop & an all-in-one are two different types of machine, hence why they have they're own categories on websites such as PC World.
If you're going to compare an iMac it's only fair to compare it to other all-in-ones.0 -

Do you think this spells the beginning of the end for the iMac or do you think they'll refresh the line in the near future?
I suspect it'll be refreshed in the near future but if you don't need a new computer, I wouldn't worry too much about it.0
