...News in the SCP household - today we have received a cheque for enough £ to clear a huge chunk of our debts !!!! (see my post #175 - it was true and so much more than we ever expected!) :j:j:j :jIt doesn't even feel real at the moment after the year we've had. It sounds awful but it feels like we've won the lottery!! We need to do the sums and then will update my signature but it's just unbelievable!!! I think we're in shock :rotfl:

    Will update signature asap...

Morning SCP - OMG what great news :j:j:j. Although very sad how you had to come across it! Hope you have a great plan for how you are going to make this work for you.
you have had a tough 2012, so what a nice way to end it:D. Are you in a position yet to give me the plan of how it will be divided up against everything?
Anyway outside of that - glad to see you are well! Are you all prepared for Christmas? How is work these days, has it calmed down a little for you yet?
    Have a great day xx

  • Well I reckon that the money should be enough to clear mbna, halifax and mint and have enough to pay back DH's parents but we'll have to see (parents are a priority as they've waited so long!) The main thing is to use it all to clear debt though and not get carried away. You're right Aamberle it is bittersweet, feels like they've given us a new start.

Quite unbelievable that even after paying all of that back we'll still owe about £24k?! Now to put my mind to how best to clear the rest of it!!!

Work has calmed down quite a bit - this time of year is always quieter so am just making the most of it :) Can you believe that after all the shopping and cooking and faffing this time next week it'll all be over? :rotfl:Anyway, off to have a nice glass of red...

Morning SCP - Wow that is amazing - and just think what a boost to your 2013 plans that will be..:D. If you did the same amount of focus next year then your debt could be down below £15k this time next year or probably less - just how amazing would that be??
I am sooo pleased for you - you have had such a tough year, that something awesome had to be round the corner..:T
    Anyway catch up soon Xx

  • :hello:
    A quick update...
mint, mbna and DH's parents have been repaid in full _party_ Well, I say in full, no doubt there will be another statement with some leftover interest lurking but hey ho. Trying to work out exactly how much we owe halifax as the account is closed and we don't get statements anymore. Then they will be gone too. Feels very strange.

Have applied to transfer the £2k HSBC balance to mbna as they are now offering 12m 0% all of a sudden! Just leaves DH's student account to sort out and those pesky loans to clear - will start making overpayments I think.

All in all a good end to a crazy year. Hope everyone is enjoying the festivities!

    Squidge xxxx

Hey Squidge go you:j:j:j. What a fantastic way to end the year..Is that around £27k gone in a year?? Considering all you have been through that is amazing. I am really pleased for you! So once you get through to 2013..what are you going to target?? One debt at a time or to say good bye to the 20's and you are in the 19's???

Anyway gotta go - really well done and catch up soon XX

  • Good Evening

Well, I never thought I'd say it but I'm actually sick of eating sweets and chocolate now :rotfl:roll on the new year dieting!!

Thanks Aamberle, have come up with a new goal to keep us focussed on being MSE's - not even sure if it's acheivable but we'll have a go... our aim is... to finish 2013 with only HSBC loan 2 loan remaining (which by that point will be about £7,900).

So that means we have to pay off in 1 year:
MBNA cc - £1,575 balance transferred from HSBC incl. fees (all gone through now)
Halifax cc - £1,000 (wasn't quite enough left to clear as paid some of HSBC)
    Student o/d - £1,500
    Co-op loan - £6,471
HSBC loan 1 - £1,866 (finishes July i think and has £300 cashback on completion)
    Total - £12,412

Hmm...food for thought for sure but feeling positive. New year new start and all that!!

Can you believe Christmas is over already?! Anyway, off to bed shortly xxx
