I sometimes see streets where people have put two or three cones outside there house to 'reserve' their spot. Who the hell do they think they are? It`s a public street
This is clearly unacceptable on a daily basis but quite common practice I think if you are expecting a heavy delivery (eg furniture or a washing machine) or moving house. Have never needed to do it myself but have often seen neighbours do it at a couple of different addresses and it doesn't bother me in the slightest.0 -

Agsain some amazingly harsh comments.
Yes, if you move to a cul de sac, with no off street parking you should expect some difficulties. But to encourage strangers to leave their vehicles there when they go off on holiday is completely unfair.
Neighbours in a cul de sac need to cooperate with each other!Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Perhaps you mind want to knock on their door and explain the inconvenience to them otherwise they won't get it. Or leave a note first for them and if they don't persue it, then got to them and explain the problem0

It never ceases to amaze me that people buy a house in a street or cul-de-sac where clearly the parking is an issue then moan about it. Surely the very first thing you saw when you went to view the house was this!

its a council house the op said and it was emergency housing so she didnt have a choice to refuse cause of no driveway. She is saving to buy her own house with a driveway (if i am correct op).

You have my sympathy - I have been in the same situation and "had a word" -it resulted in harassment from neighbours, so much so that I had to move house and would therefore advise not to say anything to neighbours about this as they don't seem the friendly sort and you could end up dealing with a whole load of new problems.
if you are in temporary accommodation then you know there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you will be moving at some point.
Take care and try to relax.0 -
Depends what sort of people they are, if they are usually considerate and polite then a quiet word would have effect, if not any word you have will fall on deaf ears.

To allow someone to leave a car there while on holiday suggests that they are totally inconsiderate.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

If you had read the full post, you will see that this is a council house, which i didnt buy. I viewed the house during the day, and didnt expect it to be used for airport parking.
As i've said already, we are currently saving to buy our own house with PARKING.Mummy to Isabella - March 2008 and Daisie - September 2012:A - November 2011 (mc)0 -

As with most things in life, you can't control the way others behave - you can only control how you react. So please, just stop getting annoyed about this because it really isn't going to achieve anything.
And, no. Don't raise this with your neighbour. It's actually nothing to do with them. They have no power to "give permission" for friends or anyone else to park on a public road - and, of course, no power to stop them from doing so.
You will drive yourself potty if you allow this to upset/annoy you. Try to find something positive to think about when walking to and from your car, if it's not parked right outside the house. Try singing
to yourself, of course, not out loud ;-)
They slightly are giving permission, when they let them park there and then drive them to the airport.Mummy to Isabella - March 2008 and Daisie - September 2012:A - November 2011 (mc)0
