This is all just part & parcel of living in a property with no off-street parking (although OS parking comes with its own issues!).

As with most things in life, you can't control the way others behave - you can only control how you react. So please, just stop getting annoyed about this because it really isn't going to achieve anything.

And, no. Don't raise this with your neighbour. It's actually nothing to do with them. They have no power to "give permission" for friends or anyone else to park on a public road - and, of course, no power to stop them from doing so.

You will drive yourself potty if you allow this to upset/annoy you. Try to find something positive to think about when walking to and from your car, if it's not parked right outside the house. Try singing :) to yourself, of course, not out loud ;-)

The neighbour drives the car owners to the airport and keeps their car keys!

We know this because the OP has said they move the cars closer to their house as soon as a better space becomes available!

Of course they are responsible for them!! They've invited them there and are quite possibly charging them to inconvenience others!

Why would anybody assume they are charging people? We live about an hour from the airport, my inlaws about 15 minutes. If we are going on holiday we leave our car at my inlaws and FIL drives us the last 15 minutes and he certainly never charges us. Why would we pay (around £40 I seem to remember?) for long term parking when a family member is happy to help us save the money?

I too don't think you should say anything (and I live on a road near a station), you have no right to park outside your own house.
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

    December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.10

I totally empathise. I have annoying neighbours who leave 'large but not large enough for a car' gaps when they park. It's downright thick!!
I don't own the road but it does infuriate me when I have to park so far from the house...I'm not pregnant, have no children but my shopping bags weigh a ton and I'm guilty of huffing and puffing and getting annoyed over it. Shoot me! The neighbours across the road have a huge drive and a garage but because of the angle of their drive the lady parks outside our homes because she claims not to be able to pull in?? It doesn't half wind me up!

You have my empathies on this one. The fact it's people going on holiday and leaving their cars there would definately have me speaking up.
Talking of speaking up, I'm amazed at how some people on the forum have a go when I'm sure relatively minor things wind them up too. As for chosing a house with no parking - have you seen the house prices?? Some people can't afford homes with off street parking ...

It really winding me up having to lug bags of shopping up the street while trying to get my daughter in the house.

    First world problems or what!

But if there is someone poorly or disabled in your house, you can ask the council the paint white lines on the road outside your house in case ambulances are needed.

This is certainly something that could be done about 10 years ago in the West Midlands so it might have stopped but worth investigating maybe...

I agree. There's a lot of things I can't afford. Doesn't give me an entitlement to something that is not mine. People are factually correct. The OP has no right to park there over any other person, as inconsiderate and as annoying as that is.

People weren't "having a go" as such. The OP asked for an opinion and was given a variety of them. Just because someone does not share your point of view, does not mean they were.

I know some people don't drive and struggle with shopping, but thats their choice.

    Big assumption being made there.

I don't remember being told that I had a choice about becoming disabled and having to give up driving because I could no longer use a foot pedal, just as walking and carrying anything more than a handbag became difficult. We can't afford an adapted car so I either struggle on public transport or I don't go out unless DH is home from work.

Thank goodness for Sainsbury's free delivery - but stress free their website ain't

And if this is only really causing a major issue when you go shopping- why not just get it delivered? Surely that is much easier..

OP might work or be taking a child to school or to nursery, toddler groups, swimming lessons etc.

ETA: Besides which, we can't all afford to shop at supermarkets! Market stalls don't deliver.

I interpret that some people 'had a go'.... yes they are factually correct but the tone and content of SOME replies is a tad harsh. I'm not saying anyone has a right to park outside their homes if they can't afford off road parking..my response is to those who ignorately respond as if people have made a choice to live that way. Wouldnt we all have off street parking if it was as easy as that.

Might of known I'd be quoted...

I didn't choose to be born with a crap heart either that makes me black out without warning so disqualifies me from driving, but yeah I choose to lug shopping half a mile up the road from morrisons.

It is hard to interpret tone when something is written down. It is not "ignorant" to respond to say people make their choices and live with the consequences of that choice. It's self explanatory. I would have a lot of things if it was that easy, but it doesn't mean I can expect or have a right for people to give it to me.
