You say that yet in an earlier post you said the following so presumably you have reported cars that were parked there perfectly legally!
I only reported a car that was left for a long time, This was when i first moved in and didnt realise it was one of there friends who'd gone on holiday. As its a small street, you know which car belongs to which house. and a car dumped outside not moving for a week was strange to me.Mummy to Isabella - March 2008 and Daisie - September 2012:A - November 2011 (mc)0 -
OP, we all want to help out our friends. Your neighbour is in the wrong in my opinion because 1. they could put the car on to their drive, or 2. they could put the car in a place where it doesn't inconvenience others. I'd say they are being inconsiderate so yes, I'd consider having a polite and friendly word about the issue.
How often does this happen? If it's regular then the chances are he's advertising for cheap airport parking. Depending which airport you live near, do a google search for cheap parking near xxxx airport, then do te same on EBay, (many people sell parking on there), and possibly gumtree as well. If he IS advertising then I'm sure it can be stopped.Pants0 -

I'm sorry to be Mrs Pedantic, (I'm not totally unsympathetic to your plight) but there are two contradictions there 'I'd only just moved in'/'As its a small street, you know which car belongs to which house'. Presumably if you'd only just moved in you couldn't be sure it didn't belong to anyone?

A week isn't a long time by any means, I don't drive my car from one weekend to the next and sometimes not even then!Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Oh god, would you like a timeline? ?
Out of the 11 cars that park on the actual street, there are 21 house 8 of which have drives. After a few months you get to pick up who drives what. Most of the people who drive actually work so the cars move. I cannot remember the actual date I think I moved in April 2009 and I think it might have been may have been June/July (I didn't write it down). All I know was it was an old car dumped outside my house, not moving for over a week.Mummy to Isabella - March 2008 and Daisie - September 2012:A - November 2011 (mc)0 -

Wouldn't minds so much but one deliberately parks outside our house all the time & we end up parking closer to their place.

If the long term parked cars were kept on the neighbours drive with the neighbour parking in front of their own dropped kerb it would not be an issue. However, the fact they DELIBERATELY move these cars closer and use up the limited space without a care for the other residents is galling.
The only thing I could suggest is contacting the local councillor to get some form of residents permit parking created.
One does have to wonder how the "visitors" insurance companies would feel about cars being left for a couple of weeks in a strange place.
But be prepared to have to pay for the privilege, and also not be able for your visitors to be able to park, unless they operate a visitors ticket scheme where you have to buy tickets in advance.
Or even worse, they come and paint double yellow lines on the road!!0 -
we have resisents parking, and it makes no difference as people are still able to park on the road, but just need a disc that you get free from the council and set it at the time they arrive and can park up to 3 hours with no return. if i have guests a ticket for them costs 15 pence a time, they can park for 24 hours on it. i pay £25 a year for my disc permit which means my car can park at anytime for as long as i want, but on many occassions i come home at 1 p.m and there is no where to park as a funeral, wedding or function is at the church hall and the spaces are full. i just have to park further away and walk down to my house, but thats life.

I sympathise with you OP. When I go to the airport, if I choose to use my car as a mode of transport to get me there; I pay to leave it in the airport car park. I would not leave it on the public highway. In my opinion good citizenship requires consideration of others.
In my stret we have a family with a son living at home, he is approx 25. The family have three cars. On Saturday evenings, the sons friends all converge at his home prior to going out for the evening. All arrive by car, some separate, some together. Normally this brings an extra 8 cars, which are all parked up and left until late Sunday evening. That makes 11 cars from that one household. Inconsiderate in my opinion, but that appears to be the modern way.0 -
Well OP, now you've been told ad nauseum that you have no legal right to park outside your house, even though you made it very clear you knew that from the start, have you decided whether or not to speak to the neighbour?
