I love all the pictures, especially the white paws.

:D Awww, what a cutie. I love watching cats interact with the Chrissie decs, every one a Kodak Moment.

Socks are now binned. They will not get a second shift as a duster, a snowman or even a sockpuppet. I'm being strong for a change.

  • Not quite certain how I'm up already.

But have tea, toast and might be making my way outside at some point.

The miniature vandal has been dried off twice already this morning due to forays into the garden after a cat daring to walk along *his* wall. There are now little black footprints all over the tablecloth. So much for preparing early to save time :)

Thanks everyone - old calendar now binned along with some little bits of soap I made and never wrapped up so they were all dusty, a few old cracker toys from at least 2 years ago, and a couple of mugs which were only slightly chipped! I also recycled the plastic tub they'd been accumulating in. I made myself chuck those mugs as realistically they are no actual use to us and have been replaced for everyday use ages ago - they've been sitting in the kitchen exuding 'I could be useful for storing pens or something one day' type vibes for a long time. I stuck to the decision even when OH said "I hate throwing mugs away" at seeing them in the bin. She's just as bad as me about getting rid of potentially useful stuff, though she won't admit it.

Now I need to list the rest of the 'too small but perfectly useable' mugs on freegle. Will have to wait until after Chrimbo though as I still have LOADS to do before tomorrow. We both like a big mug for our tea so got a nice set earlier in the year to supplement the other big set, and cleared the rest of the mugs out of the cupboard so there is now only one layer of mugs on the shelf, but sadly didn't get them out of the house. I think they were intended to be 'spares' or something!
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
  • As previously predicted, today I'm going to have a 'pretend' de-Richard by moving half the contents of my kitchen to my bedroom to make way for the table and chairs to be used for its annual once a yr use age, Christmas dinner!

Secret Santa at work got me a lovely new lunch bag I wanted so I'm chucking two of the kids old ones they no longer use to make way for it

I gave away 2 bags of too small for the kids clothes and shoes on Sat.

I have however, made a humongous boots sale order however I avoided the toiletries for myself (I still have a huge stash from last yr) and most of it is presents for next yrs birthdays etc

I intend to deal with my beauty stash by frequenting the 'no more unnecessary toiletries' thread in Jan (although I think my stash will go up in numbers before then) I have been having the odd look on there in prep and they have a term. HG. As in 'holy grail'. As in 'ok, so you have your holy grail 'x' item (best) so why do you need all these others that just go to waste'. Think we can maybe use the term over here to help us de Richard things. :)

Yup. So cute, he does sparkly, glittery disco poos in the litter tray.

I've told him I'll give him some reindeer for dinner tomorrow if he'll just leave the tinsel alone.

    I've been Money Tipped!
This week I have dericharded five idea bags of bedding (stained irredeemably, frayed or poly cotton or judt low thread count that I don't like and don't need now we have nicer stuff). Almost all was handme downs or student linen. What kind of self respecting student had four changes of bedlinen I ask you?

I have another idea bag full to see if stains can be bleached boiled or otherwise beaten out....including a wonderfull feeling white duvet cover hand me down from my parents. If it cannot be saved it and the rest is going.

Four towels ' good enough' for me became dog towels. (I don't need good enough for me when I have good enough for anyone to use...why do I feel the need to use the stained and the frayed???)

I dug out a hand towel I bought early in the year which is garish but cheerful to put by the sink in the utility room (currently our only sink downstairs) and dug out our favourite towels for dh and I to use.

I made a bed for visiting parent for tomorrow with nice linen and put a change of linen ready for the visitor the next night.

I could do this because there is room to move in the room. Lots needs to go still (box room and spare room are on the list as both become the bathroom next year).

It's fantastic. I don't aspire to a minimalist life at all, but the freedom of getting rid of some of these things which have been so heavy upon me is incredible. This is none of it DH's stuff, dh who I thought had the bigger problem, but MINE.

I do not like the waste. I do not. it feels heinous to me. But I like the lightness and the acheivement Of clearing.

I look forward to tackling other areas with your virtual help after Christmas. Thank you, thankyou all.
