  • We can't travel back in time - so it can go!
    Love it!
Imagine if we could - all those richard purchases we wouldn't make, once we had the benefit of hindsight (which would in fact be foresight-timetravel does my head in!) - "no I wont buy that because I will only trip over it 5 years down the line slightly shabby and covered in cat fluff and it will depress and injure me"

I have no trouble ditching diaries and calenders - by mid Jan I decide which of the many I am going to use and take the rest to cs while they still have a chance of reselling them - which this year will be all but one wall calendar as I use Outlook calendar now anyway

Which I wish I'd checked before booking a course yesterday :wall:- I have ONE thing in next year's diary, just one, a party in March. So yesterday when faced with a brochure of interesting courses, why did I home in that self same day to commit myself to a course?

Am excited about courses though, have booked onto one which will use up some favourite clothes as fabric into an upcycled project - had vague notions of doing this myself but actually company and tutors will ensure I finish it and bin the leftovers! I've steadily gone down 3 clothes sizes this year so have plenty of spare fabric! Started year size 22, yesterday size 16s arrived and I stepped straight into them.(Can't take much credit though as it's only becasue I stopped a med that was making me put on weight, it's not a diet)

I had a really bleh day yesterday on the decluttering for Christmas front and realise it was carbs/sugar turning me into a slug - so carb-free day today and see how whizzy I can be

I need some cleaning products but refused to pay the
falsly-inflated prices yesterday which I know are the forerunner for the fake "half price" and "only £1" spring cleaning promotions that follow Christmas, so will have to be inventive on the use of products - maybe elbow grease? Or drag some little-used stuff from the back of the cleaning cupboard and use it up instead of grabbing the nearest newest spray bottle

Jo-Jo - I hope you are ok, expect you'll need to keep gently moving today to stop from seizing up. Glad you didn't need a hunky fireman to rescue you - I think?!:rotfl:

DH is at work today so Xmas starts when he comes home (although I have to do some work tomorrow, but that isn't so bad as it gives me a headstart on next year).

Today, I am just going to focus on anything that can go to the recycling centre, as it is open tomorrow. Need to create some space for the gifts we get given (hopefully).

  • Jojo - here's hoping you're not too bruised and sore today...
    :jFlylady and proud of it:j
  • Morning (well, just about)!

I seem to be developing some bruising and tenderness on my ribs, which wasn't what hurt yesterday. And my lower back feels quite fragile, so I came downstairs very gingerly this morning.

Great, isn't it? I go ballistic at the mere thought of putting stuff on the stairs, would never, ever allow them to become another place to put things because it is so dangerous. Even trained the cat to wait for me to go first. And I'm the one who stacks down a perfectly clear flight of stairs, no Stuff, no cat, nothing.

Anyhow, just have to wipe down the work tops and I'm ready for Tuesday, other than the tree and a little trundle out tomorrow for some fresh fish and some fruit. Once the tree is up, I shall try to get a photo up.

Oh good, I like looking at the photos on here.

I'm wincing on your behalf Jojo, hope it's not too bad.

DS decided to be a pain this morning and go on strike, so he is sulking in his room while he has a think about his behaviour. DH is at work with a sore throat and strict instructions not to be grumpy when he comes home. DD is so excited about Christmas that she is jumping and flapping her hands at anything and everything. Thank goodness for one little ray of sunshine. We are pretty organised this year for Xmas but I think that reflects Christmas Day being on a Tuesday rather than great planning.

    Roll on flower days!

Jo-Jo it sounds like you wrenched your body when falling. Hope you are not in too much pain.

I'm cleaning the fridge, oh the joy! :rotfl:It's really not that bad, but everything has to come out, but I will feel quite saintly when it's done. ;)

Ah, the no going back in time, I guess the world would be in chaos with everyone changing what they did and events and people wouldn't be born, but yes, I know what I would change! :D:rotfl:

Idris, how scary for you and your DD, I hope she is better now. I once bought a corner suite many years ago, after falling in love with it in the store, it arrived and to be fair we still had our 3 piece suite so things were crammed in, but it was HUGE and I hated it...I called the store and said you have to take it away I hate it, I was in tears. Of course they wouldn't as it was a special order.

Kate, how are you feeling now?

I buy too many diaries and then use just one, but have decided to recycle all the old ones, instead of using them for notes/scrap paper. I realise I have to be pretty ruthless in order to maintain some kind of order. I'm also going to recycle all the old Xmas cards (the ones I am supposed to send to people) as I rarely give cards now and therefore I have years' of cards just hanging around. So in the New Year I will take to the CS, or maybe even tomorrow. Same with the wrapping paper, I have started to use bags and tissue paper, so fairly generic.

Although as most, if not virtually all, my family don't appear to think I exist, presents and cards are getting severely curtailed next year.

Had some bunny drama yesterday as one of the bunnies I look after became sick, dashed to the vet and he stayed in overnight and is having small op tomorrow. He's adorable. It's at times like this I am so glad of the paperwork I insist on even when one person told me I'd get more clients (not true) if I didn't bother.

BH, that link is scary...but does help me not to keep things!

Goldiegirl, I thought the same about the santas , plus I thought that could become an obsession, there was so much stuff, but then I'm very minimilist in my decorations! :rotfl:

:xmastree:If I don't get the chance in the next day or so, I hope all of you have a Christmas you feel happy with :rudolf: don't worry about the clutter and just enjoy your time :xmassign: Thank you for being there for me this past year and for holding me up when I felt so ready to just lie down and never get up again. :happyhear

I am so fond of you all. :A

On a de-richarding note, I've not done much deliberately (apart from putting some dead jeans into the bag to go to the cash-for-clothes place when it's full), as too busy making last minute pressies, but came across a 2011 calendar with spaces for your own photos while I was looking for something else. I would feel bad about chucking it in the bin as it is still sealed in plastic - I paid money for that and never used it! (ok, it was probably from the pound shop, so hardly bank-breaking, but still!) Someone please reassure me that no-one on freecycle will want it so I can be ok about just putting it in the recycling (or let me know if there is a likely use for it so I don't feel silly about listing something which is obviously useless)...

Definately one for recycling. 2011 is done and dusted, and 2012 is nearly done too. Let's look forward to 2013, and put the past behind us

Hope you are not too sore JoJo, it must have given you a nasty shock

Idris, hope your daughter is a lot better now

Hi Byatt, hope things are more settled with your DD.

I am feeling more positive now I have finished work until the new year - I have been getting very down as I have a work colleague (who I sit next to and work closely with) who is incredibly negative and I am struggling not to absorb her vibes if that makes sense. Any tips on how to deflect her toxicity from anyone would be welcome! I'm very bad at taking on other people's emotions and blaming myself for them. I go in each morning in trepidation of what kind of mood she will be in.

JoJo, hope you recover quickly - take care of yourself.

OH's birthday today and I got him socks as requested, then sat him down with his 3 sock drawers and he got rid of a huge bag-ful, reducing down to 1 drawer. I say got rid, they are going in the garage for rags but they will actually get used and then chucked when beyond use.

Off for dinner tonight, then neighbours over tomorrow so need to get the house ship-shape tomorrow morning.

Forgot to say, I also got rid of a load of old makeup which dates back at least 12 years and in the process found 2 new lip glosses I bought recently then forgot. Have been trying to chuck at least 1 thing a day, no matter how random!
