I could fall slightly in love with Stelios

Yes, he is rather attractive, isn't he !

I felt sorry for the lady who kept all the tins. She had obviously had some traumatic experiences in her youth, so you can understand why she wanted to make sure she never went hungary again. I think her stuff went to storage, so I don't think they've completely got to the root of her problems yet, but it was nice to see her enjoying time with her family. I did think some of the large Santas she had were a bit scary though!

In the new year I will be buying some 'stuff' for selling in my little eBay business. The trouble is, I only get stuff that I like, so I identified with the antique dealer chap - I think that could be me unless I'm careful

I like the idea of flower days, sounds bright and fragrant to me

  • Afternoon all

BH don't worry I plan on enjoying myself. I'm lucky as I'm not back to work until 2nd Jan so have plenty of time for enjoying myself and continuing the dericharding.

Large sack went to cs today, saw a top I donated last week on the rail and my only thought about it was I hope someone will enjoy it.

Jojo I've not bothered with xmas decorations this year, my excuse is that I'm decorating the lounge. I even got my dad to put the decorations up in the loft when he went up there as part of smoke testing the chimney today.

Byatt I know exactly what you mean about seeing something nice in the shops and putting it back down. The need to buy things to make me feel better has somewhat diminished.
  • Hello. Am mad busy and really want to catch up but no time.
Daughter had asthma attack Thursday, cue a call to GP who said triage would call back (they didnt. 4 year old with known asthma and food allergies that cause respiratory problems, history of pneumonia) call to NHS direct, sirens, quick response car and ambulance and 3 paramedics in my front room. Shes ok now after an afternoon on a nebuliser and a course of steroids-- SCARY.
New sofas arrived, one doesnt fit (I know I know *shame*) so it is currently in my friends (ground floor, patio doors) flat until after christmas when the guys that did my windows can come and remove porch windows/doors, and living room door and ENTIRE FRAME and get sofa in. Ho hum. Christmas with no sofa ha ha. Luckily the 2 seater fits and looks amazing so we are currently perched on that and the old ikea sofa swiftly moved from playroom!
Oh and yesterday my iphone conked out (3 months old, 4S) and I must say I am VERY impressed with the Apple Store who replaced it no quibble within 20 mins! Added to the trauma of the blinking week though!!
Sent 3 binbags to CS yesterday though :) so de richarding is still going along slowly but nicely.Im looking forward to Christmas - a quiet one my way with my family. No family politics here please :)

I really hope everyones doing ok and wish you all a peaceful Christmas. Thank you so much for having me this year- this thread has been an inspiration and massive comfort and support x

This is exactly how I feel so thank you for putting it into words x

Been MIA, feeling sorry for myself for one reason and another but having a lot of frank and honest discussions with myself recently and am going to drag myself out of my sel-indulgent self-pity.

Have had a couple of glasses so will post more tomorrow when am sober x
  • Hope DD is all fixed now, Idris.

Change of plan for me. Slid down the stairs, unintentionally, just stopped myself from piledriving both legs into the wall at the bottom by hurling arm over bannister and pulling in. My upper arm is going to bruise quite spectacularly, I think. And I may have damaged the entire bannister as I heard a cracking noise.

But at least I'm not waiting for the fire brigade to retrieve me from being embedded halfway into next door's hall.

Given up and gone to bed.

Ouch Jo Jo - but as long as the cracking noise was the bannister it can be fixed!

Oh dear Jojo, that sounds very painful! Hope you've done what you can to treat that bruising, also hope it was actually the bannister cracking and not some part of you! I know we can't give medical advice on here, but I'm sure you've done the usual common sense things for bruising to reduce the likelihood of swelling, like ice and suitable medication. Of course, if it seems worse than you'd expect it to be tomorrow, or doesn't start to get better soon, then please do get yourself seen by a professional!

On a de-richarding note, I've not done much deliberately (apart from putting some dead jeans into the bag to go to the cash-for-clothes place when it's full), as too busy making last minute pressies, but came across a 2011 calendar with spaces for your own photos while I was looking for something else. I would feel bad about chucking it in the bin as it is still sealed in plastic - I paid money for that and never used it! (ok, it was probably from the pound shop, so hardly bank-breaking, but still!) Someone please reassure me that no-one on freecycle will want it so I can be ok about just putting it in the recycling (or let me know if there is a likely use for it so I don't feel silly about listing something which is obviously useless)...
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
  • Thanks, babyshoes, LIR and kate :)
