I was burning our wrapping paper today and enjoying myself hugely with it.
Got loads of books, so am very pleased.
Am itching to have a clear out to make space for the new stuff. Must pace myself with it though.
Managed to pass the old microwave on to my dad, so consider that a Christmas dehoarding victory.
This has been our best Christmas in years. DD was an angel all day, no tears or tantrums even with she was overtired and a balloon burst next to her.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Sorry I didn't get back on here in time to wish you all Happy Christmas - so can I be the first to say "Happy Boxing Day?":snow_laug:rudolf:DD is so excited about Christmas that she is jumping and flapping her hands at anything and everything. Thank goodness for one little ray of sunshine.
I so envy those of you lucky enough to have still-young children with you, or grandkids, but having bought my SIL a remote control helicopter, actually had a big kid for the day, I don't think he has stopped grinning yet! I didn't really think it would work but he is just short of being able to scoop up the hamster in the winch attachment (!) or using it to pass the sprouts :T
Well done with the wrapping paper disposal - we managed to use up some crackers left over from the last few years and they were better quality than I'd be inclined to buy now
Oh dear it's nearly 2am and we've got a friend coming for Boxing Day, i'd better do something useful

PS are the creme eggs in the shops yet? :EasterBunYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -

Good evening, everybody!
I now have a lovely light fitting to coordinate with the kitchen one, a small cork board to go up by the front door and phone and a nice picture if some snowdrops to help me think of spring.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
We got given a lot of food items this year. (I have been guiding family over the last few years not to buy the whole Christmas aisle - we were getting stupid amounts of chocolate and in the end we were giving it away because it was overwhelming). Now we get stuff we will enjoy using.
So I have spent an hour reorganising the kitchen cupboards. I'm hoping for a cheap January grocery shop so I can rejiggle finances. Should be a better year than 2012 for spends, I hope.
Space really does make a difference so light and space and flower days will be 2013 theme..am looking forward to the year already.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Dh's sibling is visiting tomorrow. I am looking forward to this as much as mostly people I enjoy a dentisits trip.....you know it's important to do and good for long term health, but you would rather do it next month than this....and next month never comes.....
Anyway, I asked him what he had bought for sibling and he looked at me blankly and asked if I had not bought somehting. He is not an uncaring or I thoughtful man, far from it, he is a truely remarkable one, and caring and thoughtful both, but also....not terribly good at thinking in to the near future.
Anyway, he has told me there is no doubt his sibling will enjoy a lot of the branded stuff he has from clients and so has put a collection together into a branded bag. He thinks sibling will think its 'darling'. And while I certianly don't I am jolly glad it's leaving our home to become siblings issue not mine.
I am now hoping and hoping and hoping sibling doesn't break the habit of a lifetime and bring us gifts, because they will almost certaonly be Richard if they arrive here. We have done so well in the last week I don't want anything back. Dh is starting, just started, to glimse the beauty of a surface with just one carefully chosen adornment.0 -
Happy Boxing Day, everybody.
I have been de-richarding Quality Streeets and Woses.Santa brought me lovely new socks so I de-richarded another pair which were more holey than righteous, which is the second pair of socks in less than a week. Feeling a wee bit faint at the prospect. The two pairs which were discarded were part of a 3-pack and I.m wondering if the surviving pair aren't long for this world, either.
Am with family and hid from the Queens Speech as is my wont by hanging out in another room to watch the Hoarder Next Door Xmas special. Mum came and joined me. We watched with lots of OMGs and spontaneous utterings on her part of I'm going to get rid of X. Y has definately got to go.
Inspirational, sad, heartwarming and a shot across the bows about how a hoarderish tendancy could get out of hand in the future.
I've been sleeping most of this afternoon in an armchair under a blanket, completely pooped.
Oh, and I also teased Mum to do the Handbag Challenge, which is when you get a large tray and empty the contents of your handbag onto it. It's hysterical if you're at all hoarderish and we had a really good laugh and found some stuff which was MIA for some time. Then she dared me to empty out my bag and I had one dead biro and a measuring tape I'd forgotten I was still carting about so that will go back into the sewing cupboard.
I'm hiding from a telly prog I don't want to watch so will have a wee internet wamble then back to RL. Whatever that's all about.
Hope everyone is having a good time, each in their own style and manner, and that we'll fully-regroup in the New Year.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Our bin men (people) are going to hate us this week, we are usually a 1-bag a week and black box every other week household. On our third binbag and I reckon we will have 2 weeks of 2 black bins to get caught up!
After a pretty unproductive day, something clicked this afternoon and I have got all my filing done / put away (still need to split some files and probably a lot I scan then dump and/or rationalise but it is all away).
Got the spare room back to normal (all pressies are wrapped ready for trip to the west country at the end of the week), sorted and chucked a load of old therefore irrelevant job-related paperwork, listed 3 things on freegle. So now feel like I have achieved something today!0
