Hoarding...not just on TV

I've just downloaded their .pdf about hair donation and they don't want hair more than 10% grey. Mine is much greyer than that, anything from 30% to 70% depending on which part of my scalp. Shame.:(
*you could just send a tied bunch from the area with least grey, if that would be <10% grey
Well done D&DD, esp in fitting it in around everyday tasks.
I've been on paper stuff today too, while watching soppy films, cuddling pets and managing not to eat comfort foodYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
I've been decluttering my FB page of friends who never speak to me, to be fair I rarely speak to them either, so now I'm down to 6. Only had 12 to begin with!
I ate healthily all day until tonight when I went to the corner shop and bought a load of chocolate. Regret it now but at the time it was urgent.0 -
PS - anyone see Surprise Surprise where (what sounded like) a hoarder's son reunited a couple with the lost wedding cine film his dad had in a drawer for 30 years?
PPS - I won't be able to watch Downton - too sadYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -

I always feel lighter when I do that, facebook not chocolate. Although I do enjoy having a fb sort out almost as much as a big bar of chocolate... I've had one person friend request me about half a dozen times even though they never said a word when we were "friends". Why do people do that? :rotfl:0 -
I could happily declutter my ex if it wasn't for my DD :cool:. Can anyone help me stop cluttering up my mind and emotions with thoughts of him. Basically, he has told my DD that he sold my wedding and engagement rings to get funds to set up home again (his choice to run off with 17 year old!). He had/has a job, earns £30000 + and is in social housing. He left with quite a few things from home although no furniture. Plenty of everything else though. He also go the car. I was not working, my DD is learning disabled and our only income was her benefits. It was touch and go many a time but I kept a roof over our heads, he paid nothing towards the mortgage, but still got half the equity, I was told if I defaulted on the mortgage I would have to pay HIM for the missed amounts.
Anyway, I am still livid that he lies to our DD (she is adult now, but easily persuaded)...I am stewing over this revelation about the rings. Total carp and full of lies (I know he gave one ring to his sister, I've seen it on holiday pics).
I feel impotent. I want to rip his head off. He has no idea how I feel or what my life is now like, which is a huge consolation but doesn't take away from the fact that I am struggling financially whilst he lives the life of riley and pretends to DD he is broke. Plus what a b!tch I am because poor him had nothing. Why do I give a damn?
And on a different note, next door's BF is cutting up pallets for the fire. It is a Sunday and although I'm not religious it irritates the carp out of me, mainly because he takes for EVER! One pallet has taken at least two hours, as he cuts each bit of wood to the exact same length, then stands and brushes the wood dust off his clothes (which are his best), near my washing.I want to go out there, grab the wood cutter thing (it's electric) and cut up the remaining 6 or so pallets in less than half an hour. I can't stand it. My BP is rising.
Byatt, your ex reminds me of both my ex and a 47-year-old guy I know. The ex's story has to be told first. At the grand old age of 36, he started catting around with a 17 year old. She goes off to his old university and he morphs into the dirty-old-man who's a permanent fixture in one corner of the student bar. I think he was trying to go back to his glory days as a student, before he screwed life up for himself (and for me). Most entertaining for me is that he never, ever realised how rediculous he looked. (Over the years, I've met several people who were at university with the girl who thought he was a creepy old man and described her as "the Oxford bicycle".)
Fast forward to two or three years ago, when the incident with the 47 year old occured. At the time, he'd been separated from his wife of 15 years for a year and they had an eleven year old son. A group of us were away at an RPG convention. Over coffee one morning, he confessed that he'd got a new girlfriend and that she kept texting him. They'd been on 3 dates. A few more minutes unearthed the fact that she was quite a bit younger than him and that they'd met on-line in a gaming forum.
So I asked, how much younger and what does she do? (At this point, I was expecting to be told early 20's.)
"She' 17 and doing her A-levels."
At which point, I promptly went into the nearest bathroom and threw up.

Turned out later that several of his friends had attempted to make him see sense. The phrase "statutory rape" was mentioned a few times, too. As did several people pointing out that she was only 6 years older than his son and still at school. But he was so far into the warm glow of "someone wants me" that it felt on deaf ears.
Since he's no Brad Pitt, we can only assume she wanted him for the money she perceived he could lavish on her. It must have been a rude shock when she discovered he didn't earn any."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

PJ, thanks for sharing, my ex was early 50's
, but his family and some of his friends normalised it, he obviously normalised it. It was horrific. My DD had to see them going around town, hand in hand and all her friends had been friends with this girl. The friends thought it was gross. I also later found out we were being investigated as she was fostered, and they thought we were "grooming" her. Notice the "we". I was overwhelmed with grief that I didn't "protect" her from him.
Statutory rape was mentioned by me as well as if he was in the US he would be imprisoned and worse. My American friends were appalled. Most normal people would be appalled.
I do appreciate you sharing, and sorry I've gone OT here, but you and Jo-Jo have helped enormously with your posts. :A
Ex lavished all his money (and mine) on her and now blames me for his choices. I don't mind that, but I do mind his telling our DD what a b!tch I am. She knows better, but she shouldn't have to hear that.

Byatt, that is truely appalling - it gives a whole new layer to what you have (and are) suffering:grouphug:
Today I posted the 2nd amazon book I've sold in the last week: quite a heavy book so haven't made a huge profit but it feels good to havegot something back.
I also passed to a friend a sentimental item i have totally illogically struggled to get rid of. She is going to take it to a c.s. for me in a week:j I also gave her (for herself) my clothes pegs, which I haven't used in years.
Today I found the phone number for the 'books only' c.s. so I'll try and take the next step tomorrow and ring and see if they have any volunteers who may be able to pick up the 5 bags of books I have to go.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
 OK, does anyone know if thre is likely to be a market for old SLR film cameras? I have one, I don't use it, I won't use it, I guilt-trip about it (18th burthday pressie from parents) and I wonder if there's anyone who still wants this kind of good quality 35mm camera? Anyone had recent experience of trying to offload similar? It was a great bit of kit but I guess we're all digital now........
This is how I kid myself that it's not really hoarding.....0 -
The term "statutory rape" is used in some legal jurisdictions to refer to sexual activities in which one person is below the age required to legally consent to the behavior. Whilst in the UK the legal age is 16, in the US it is not, hence the term used.
I can't even bring myself to comment on the rest of your post.
edit, I have to apologise to the rest of the posters as my orignal post has disrupted the thread. I should have known better. I am so sorry.0
