Hoarding...not just on TV

Sybil I hope youre feeling better and can get sorted soon x
Soooo last night I finally managed to ebay a few bits (HOW long have I been saying I'll do this? *blush*) The "few bits"are potentially a couple of hundred quids worth (boots including Bench, 2 x Uggs- 1 brand new, Converse) I have a few hideous bills at the mo to the tune of about £500 so this can pay toward them. The clothes pile is driving me spare at the moment- it has seeped into 3 rooms now so I am planning a quiet week in (the weathers looking to facilitate that this week anyway) and a lot of de-richarding. I am very guilty of spending a lot of time out of the house as I cant bear to be in staring at the mess/clutter but then spending time out purchasing new carp to add to the junk. I am actually at the stage where I dont need ANYTHING - hence de - richarding 3 pairs boots etc and hoping to pare back the clothes so I can actually fit stuff I love in the wardrobe and not where it usually is in the floordrobe. I know it drives The Prof (aka husband) to distraction and it would be lovely to have a beautiful room to chill in
I also think its astounding that so many of us hoarders have auto immune illnesses too- there MUST be a corellation (sp)?? Lets do a dissertation in itHave nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

What size?
And can you PM your user name?
By the way, Sybs, if your DH has arms and legs, he can iron. He just doesn't want to when you can do it for him. So he needs to learn - put a sheet in the emergency manual telling him what setting to put it on, etc.
After all, if you end up in hospital, he's going to have to learn pretty darn quickly.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Converse 5, Uggs 5 (Ugg 5 usually a 5/6 IRL) and Bench 7
I broke my foot 2 years ago so have VERY variable sized feet lol.
any of these any good and I'll pm youHave nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

Someone mentioned the 9th square a while back? Well I created one in the back bedroom/study/ironing room. Now I can put the linen away. I have no further need to buy Christmas wrapping (this year or next possibly) and I know where it is when I need it.
Also discovered that I have at least enough decent long sleeved tops to last two weeks, even if a lot of them are black or shades of blue. A bit more work and I may be able to get into the boxes of paperwork that have been sitting there since I did mum's probate! I suspect a bonfire looms.
Also finally convinced myself that the reason the kitchen clock did not work was the clock not that the batteries I kept changing were dud. So that is in the bin and the spare (slightly broken) one from the bedroom is repurposed until I get a new wall clock.
Took a few things to CS and then discovered the twin of one of the shirts in the backroom. Think that will head the same way shortly. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
In defence of Sybil's dh, of his back has gone badly he really might not be able to iron. I so etimes cannot.0

I totally agree Blossom but the docs never seem to realise there's life outside their department do they
Wsybil my mantra is 'shake and hang' if all else fails tumble driers are handy... I HATE ironing from when I used to work in the shirt factory way back when..I avoid it so much I've only recently had to buy my second ever iron at the grand age of 46! But I did treat the ladies at the meet to a freshly ironed tshirt..couldn't meet them looking crinkly
Hope everyone starts to feel better soon with the weather getting worse too its not much fun!
Elona hope your DD is still progressing well XX
On the hoarding front I now realise I have a problem with paper stuff..books,patterns,magazines,paperwork oh my days its never ending..in the loft we found another 6 boxes of paperwork and quite why I need bank statements from 1998 is anyones guess??? 2 lots were for companys that no longer even exist :rotfl:
Good news is my beloved dustmen carted off the whole lot for me,brown bin and 9 extra bagloads and assorted carp, dartboard went to another family earlier, castle to a neighbour,5 fans went to various peeps including next door (they're gonna start hiding soon)0 -

Thanks blossomhillI think you are right! Getting out my sewing machine and making one little thing has encouraged me to repair a couple of skirts, and given me some more ideas too. I feel quite positive! :j

Sybil, please take it easy.
OH and LB can manage perfectly well for a while without shirts and packed lunches. They can get by without you doing everything. They can't get by without you permanently.
Please take care xxx
And hi to everyone else, hope youre all doing ok, I'm back at uni, got freshers flu, just dropped by to have a quick read and got worried about sybil! With Sparkles! :happylove And Shiny Things!0 -

I am not sure where to start. If I can't do it then darling father can pick up little bear from school. Little bear has fought hard and long about school dinners, has won the battle for packed lunch, and it isn't so much trouble at the moment.
As for things like shirts, I am going to have to prioritise doing those as OH can't iron. Actually, if I don't do it, then nothing gets done. OH wouldn't know where to start with uniform etc. I shall have to set things up so that he can find stuff.
To put it bluntly if you have a heart attack he may have to learn all these things anyway, full time. Iron? Okay, if you don't and he won't he can wear creased shirts to work. And the sky will not fall in, trust me. If he moans, show him this.Val.0 -

:rotfl:And I love the way you have casually decluttered a "castle" :rotfl:You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0
