Hoarding...not just on TV

Thank you for all the info - I am taking it all in.
I am not sure where to start. If I can't do it then darling father can pick up little bear from school. Little bear has fought hard and long about school dinners, has won the battle for packed lunch, and it isn't so much trouble at the moment.
As for things like shirts, I am going to have to prioritise doing those as OH can't iron. Actually, if I don't do it, then nothing gets done. OH wouldn't know where to start with uniform etc. I shall have to set things up so that he can find stuff. Mrs Beeton said that one mark of a good housewife is that if the lady of the house is ill or indisposed then the household is so organised that things can run on in an orderly fashion without her.
On the bright side, as I shall have to be careful and use strategy on this then I may have hit the perfect opportunity to force myself to streamline. If this is not temporary then if I am to keep the house going I need absolutely the minimal and I need to have good, strong routines in place. Today I have done almost nothing, tomorrow I may do an inch more - but if I plan I can be effective. I know other people on this thread have had to work round problems and I am determined to do so as well.
As for the bag - everything is so chaotic in the house that I think I shall start putting it together over the next twenty four hours. I think it is an excellent idea, but I would never have thought it.
Sorry to have derailed the thread, but thank you so much for the support and information.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

Yes, he can. Everyone can - it's just that he won't or won't learn. if my OH can iron then anyone can. My DS has just started having proper shirts as his uniform. It is my priority to teach him to iron them. I owe it to him and any future DIL
I hope you are OKI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Wannabe Sybil, mrs Breton also gave advice on managing household staff. So much more likely things would run well without the lady of the house doing it herself!
I kept a bag packed this summer, I am sure it made it less likely I would need it, biut on the one night I did have to go in unscheduled I was able to grab a bottle of water, two books and my packed bag.
Let your father help, and little bear might have to cooperate too with meals if need be, you are more important to little bear than a sandwich.
Edit...apologies...my spell checker is over keen.0 -
I agree with the others, this isn't about what other people want or what they do and don't do this is about your health getting that sorted is so far beyond school dinners or crease free shirts.0

Sybil, thank you for letting us know how you got on at the doctors, did he do or suggest an ECG?
Everyone has given you such good advice I won't add too much to it except to say, take care of yourself, but also let others take care of you too, right now. They will all cope or they will learn just as we all do. You haven't derailed the thread at all. :A
I am sure you must be worried and scared and every scary thought will be going through your mind, but remember at this stage things are a precaution, so just take those precautions until you have tests and the results are known. Your OH will manage very well, like a lot of OH's they are very capable when push comes to shove.
Try and relax and watch daytime tv! :T xxxxx
I'm home now, and found something festering in the oven I had forgotten about. I've been gone over a week, so to say it looked like the creature from the black lagoon is an understatement. I am so disgusted that I am chucking things left, right and centre and intend to have a kitchen you could eat off the floor from! Ugh!!
The cafetiere is going, never used it, but another aspirational thing, and I don't care that much for coffee even! Plus a lot of cutlery.0 -

Sybil - you haven't derailed the thread. These sort of life issues are totally relevant to the practical reasons for needing a clutter free life and simple routines making life much easier if you have health/energy issues. It also connects completely I think to the emotions around valueing and cherishng ourselves i.e. I am worth a nice home and I am worth taking care of my health, and taking care of my health is not 'making a fuss'.:)
Just packed the last of the dried summer washing away: all 'summer only' clothes now packed away in a nice large picnic wicker hamper on a shelf in the bedroom.
An itchy and scratchy neck scarf, not worn since a wedding 14 yrs ago is now in the c.s. bag + a cami top 2 sizes too big.
I have about 4 cardie/hoodie/fleece type tops that I think I ought to serve notice on: if they are not worn in the next month then they need to go.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
BB, I always imagined making freshly ground coffee, the smell permeating the house, croissants on the table with a gingham tablecloth, beautiful tidy house, manicured nails...:rotfl:
Alec, when I take things to the recycling I am always anal about where each item goes, taking apart things at a great cost of time, energy and broken finger nails to myself. Once I put some broken crockery in the wrong skip (a worker there told me) and I was ready to climb in and get it out!
I have even,:o, wanted to tell people to take their sacks out of the landfill skip because they should be sorted through properly. I do give them dirty looks though. I feel such an over developed sense of responsibility that it is wearing.
edit I am going to get rid of a lot of cutlery because 1) the set is part of my first wedding anniversary and every time I look at it, I think that thought. 2) the rest is rubbishy stuff and I hate it, so I am going to get a nice set of maybe 2 pieces for each knife etc so I can get some pleasure from something so simple.0 -

DS1 can iron shirts, but he more often gets lazy & doesn't bother... DS2 being short, helps sort & fold mostly still at the moment.Sybil, thank you for letting us know how you got on at the doctors, did he do or suggest an ECG?

Oh, yuck, Byatt, I've done it too & its horrible! Hot water, washing up gloves & lots of soap needed....0 -
Short of seeing a live bunny in a skip at the tip there's no way I'd get into one, I really don't care about recycling that much. There lies the irony, I hate doing the recycling, hate washing out bottles and tins, hate putting the bins out, all of that stuff but I allow it to stop my progress because I don't want to do it wrong!0

WSybil - if all the men in all the armies, air forces, navies, police forces etc in the world can be taught to iron then so can your OH. Take care!
alec eiffel - I am not a fan of recycling either, only do it as it is collected twice as often as landfill - and seeing a poster on another thread asking what is the best way to heat a patio I wonder why we bother trying to save the world!
D&DD - agree about EDS, I just wish those "in the know" in the NHS would share their knowledge with those in other depts so they stop creating panic when they come across the symptomsYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0
