Glad you are moving forward positively SanFran. Why don't you set yourself some mini targets with the money you'll make. But for doing something with, rather than buying new things. Like, when you reach 50 quid, you and your daughter can go out for dinner together, 100 quid and you can have a day out together, 200 quid - maybe a spa pampering weekend together.

That way, you will have some positive and nice to focus on and look forward to, and your daughter will be included in it too (which is doubly nice as she is helping you list the stuff).

I was going to say exactly the same thing.

SanFran, i was pleased to have been directed to that site as well.
I think it's so easy now to get carried away buying bargains. It's only when you start falling over boxes of unopened bargains that you realise that if you don't use them, you don't need them so they weren't actually bargains.
Maybe we need an "I'm an ebay addict" thread.

I had thought about this, and the thing that I know she really wants is to learn how to drive, so that is the aim.
I have had my first good result today, I had a stack of about 50 cross stitch books and the recycling men have just taken them away. I daren't open them or I would have been thinking "Oh that's pretty, I might do that one "One day" Ha the last time I did a cross stitch was was a small whinnie the pooh for Anna when she was about 3 she is now 25!
You know, if a thought ends with "one day" it going. Ow and why was I clinging on to a zillion carrier bags? Ha I now have 10, nothing special just the co-op ones, and from now on I will only ever have 10. (she says)

Hope you are okay. Sorry about Oggy.

    San fran,

wow, what an inspiration it will be if you clear your clutter and your daughter can learn to drive as a result. Don't forget to take some before and after photos.

Jojo - I think you're doing the right thing not bothering with your mother again. It sounds like you didn't have a very happy childhood with her. Just because she gave birth to you doesn't mean you owe her anything.

As for your cat- I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm a huge cat lover - they all have their own personalities. We've lost a few over the years, and currently have one, very much loved mog. I know we'd be devastated if we lost him! They don't judge, they just return your love with their own.

Meg72 hugs for you too sweetie

Thank you so very much for that, I am crying now and perhaps I need to that, unlike poor jojo, I havent always had issues with my Mom, Shes 89 now, I am 67 and I know I have been lucky to still have a Mum at my age, but age an illness have taken her brain, she acts like she hates me. I want to go to the hospital, scoop her up and bring her home with me, but I know she is dangerous to me. I pray every night that she will just go to sleep and not suffer anymore.

JoJo so sorry your mog didn't make it. The thing with animals is they love us so unconditionally and we love them for that. Hugs sweetie whilst you gradually come to terms with the pain.

I'm glad you are all here to support each other on your different journies.

I'm not too bad with hoarding stuff but could do better, I hate waste and things going to landfil but if they can be found a good home I'm happy. I've started sorting out my massive pile of flower pots, washing them and they are destined for the scrap store. It is stuff with memories attached which I find harder to get rid of.

JoJo huge hugs about poor Oggs. You know I prefer cats to people. I hope you are at home snuggling the other Splat and planning some planting.

As for that woman, let her rot in her own filth. It isn't easy to walk away from family, no matter how rubbish they are, but it can be done if you don't guilt trip yourself. You owe her nothing. Get it out in music, use your skill, empathy and emotional intelligence to work this out. Nine Inch Nails, Head like a Hole - read it and weep.

Huge hugs to you Jojo, you are so right to walk away from your mum, she doesn't deserve your help.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your cat, I've had 2 cats die in recent years so I understand how devastating it can be, they are part of the family and love you unconditionally, take care. xx

I usually just open kitchen cupboard doors blithely and remove whatever I need - Yesterday I opened a cupboard to get a (not much used) casserole dish and just stared - I also had a stash of empty clean Butterly cartons! Yes, I knew they they were there! but in light of this thread I actually thought - Why am I keeping these? they may come in handy? for what? I havent used one of them in two years or so. So I threw them in the recycling! along with 25 Pott Noddle pots! Its too damn easy to become a hoarder if you want to recycle!
I am resolved to go through my cupboards and any stash that hasnt been used in the last year is going OUT! I have a feeling its gonna take time - and I thought I was being MSE!
