- Find or buy (yes, I am telling you to acquire more stuff, to get rid of stuff!) a deep frame
- Find a photo of DH in the shirt
- Iron shirt nicely and fold it neatly
- Put in frame with photo
- Make a neat caption saying **** in Paris shirt 1979
- Hang on wall, rugby club style

Morning all, did I say I'm never going to Freegle again? Ok, well, I'm NEVER (and yes I'm shouting) never, never, never going to Freegle again, ever...not in this lifetime or the next.
Three items, three different people (maybe), and none, none reply to my emails, and then make out (by other means) that they have not received my emails. One has given me their phone number to call them...duh, NO...and the others that have asked, I respond almost immediately, and nothing. Freegling involves a huge amount of trust and mutual respect, so when people are so rude and ungrateful it really annoys. I'm giving my address out to complete strangers and they can't even be bothered to be polite.
So, I'm sitting here wondering if one will turn up, as for the others, one item is off to the tip, and the other (possibly 2) to the CS. Some people really don't have a life if all they can do is ask for something and then ignore, and I thought mine was boring. It's not that I think my stuff has too much value, but I just wanted to help people. And breathe.
Thrift, I understand how you want to curl up in a ball and just cry...it's so hard, and of course you will miss him. Will you be Skyping? And do you have something in place so you can contact him?
I have to say, despite all the stuff that is leaving, I know if anyone else saw my place they would be O.M.G. I'm lucky in one sense that it's just me. I am making progress but it's taking a while. I am also dead tired and not going to do any today...I'm having palpitations again.
Alec, that's so interesting about the process of stashing and not dealing, and very insightful. I'm having dreams and lots of thoughts about my parents and the house moves which I haven't dealt with in any depth before. I'm actually feleing quite angry with them right now (they are no longer alive), which is to say, the child I was is angry with them.
Honestly this thread has helped so much and more than counselling has done in the past.
I'm off to the dentist later, eeeekkkk....:(:eek:0 -
Hi dreamers - do you know that dreaming of empty house represents bereavement - I always find that useful to know
As I typed that, the late great Freddie Mercury came on the radio singing "Empty spaces ... what are we living for?" Yes, Freddie we have to find the will to carry on, whatever we have lost, as you know only to well "The Show Must Go On"

I dream about a house I left and in which I was not happy and delighted to leave, often. It usually involves in some way, someone else living there but somehow I get in and start living there myself. It's also always renovated and extended to a ridiculous degree although at first I don't see it like that. In my dream I then worry the real owners come back and how was I going to explain my being there, but they never do. Without fail I end up back in that house, in my dreams and don't understand it.0 -

I have that dream. Always when I'm stressed.
The dreams I've been having since I've been reading/posting here are like I'm me clearing the stuff in the old house but I'm also floating above myself so it's like it's the past me drowning in the stuff with present me commentating on what I'm doing. Don't think it needs a genius to work out why my dreams are like that :beer:0 -

Yes, I have the dream when I'm stressed too. Just had a thought, it's the first house where I willingly left, actually had a choice, all my other homes, including my dream home, I had to leave because of other people's choices. mmmmhhhh.:cool:0 -
Last week I had a conversation with my DH about this thread and my hoarding tendencies. He said if anything happened to him, he would fully expect the house to be full to the brim with junk within the month
.
I have noticed my daughter already has inherited some of my hoarding ways too, unless I put junk mail straight in the recycling box it finds its way into her toy box, but yesterday I found a seed catalogue in her bed! She said she liked looking at the pretty flowers and wanted to keep it, but I managed to sneak it out.
In the last few days I have tackled the "dog/cleaning cupboard" another bag full of things in the bin. I also threw away 4 wine glasses.
Now going upstairs to iron some clothes to put on ebay, but I am putting it off as long as possible by being on here and reading threads :rotfl:Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

And maybe get someone to send her a flowery postcard so she has her own post rather than covetting junk mail :rotfl:You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
I do think sometimes it is actually needed to curl up into a ball and cry (or do it over a weepy film).
I work from home, and I am definitely in need of some proper time not working. I rarely have a day free of making a phone call, sending an email etc etc, and I am now full of cold and tired of it all.
Still very pleased about the visit to the auction house though. May even be able to put some our own stuff in next time as I am sure there will be more trips with aunty's loft clearance. Wouldn't have enough of our own to bother taking but every little helps in the lots.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
blossomhill wrote: »Girl after my own heart :heartpuls - so sweet - maybe it's a gardening tendency rather than a hoarding one - anyway you can enjoy trying to steer it in that direction - my first memory of a book was some sort of ladybird gardens book with hollyhocks on the front

That's a very good idea about the postcards,:T my sister is florist and gave me a pile of flowery promotional postcards that were out of date recently. DD does love gardening and has her own flower pots, vegetables and her wendy house has it's own window box full of flowers - she is 3 :rotfl:
Later I am going to let her cut up the catalogue and some of the postcards and get the PVA glue out to make a collage for her bedroom wall.
I have been busy ironing some of DDs old clothes to go on ebay, I'm putting 3 lots on to see how they sell first. I've never sold clothes before so I am not sure if it's worth bothering with.
If they don't sell I will just donate to charity instead [STRIKE]or keep in the loft indefinitely[/STRIKE]:silenced:Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set
