I think it depends on where you live - and what their priorities are.
When I used to live in BirmingHELL we had extremely poor service. One night I looked out of the window to see the local chavs knocking down my elderly neighbours garden wall, I called the police and they told me that because it was not my wall they could not do anything about it and would not attend!!
I told the kind lady that she was talking cobblers but that still had no effect.
That is just one example of the few times we had to call the police in the west mids - shocking, terrible service (ie none) every single time.
When we moved to staffordshire it was like a different planet. We had to call them once, they came out within 3 minutes and dealt with the problem. Then they came round and knocked the door the next day to check everything was ok.
Absolute night and day.
I totally understand that the west mids police are very overstretched, they have a huge gang / gun culture problem to deal with, but as statistics prove, if you deal with the small stuff you get less of the big stuff!
So praise for Staffs, and Grrr for west mids.0 -
Thread is no good at all without details.
Shouldn't it be in discussion time?Don't grow up. Its a trap!

I got stopped for speeding on a pushbike. Then searched for weed.
I hate the Police, they abuse their authority when they need amusement and are nowhere to be seen when you do actually need them. I say nowhere to be seen, you can always see them in my local Asda doing their shopping, though.0 -
Terrible experience as a perpetrator? Is there a customer satisfaction survey you can fill in?0

No debate, we need them, good or bad. They ( like all emergency services and the NHS) are very very underfunded and have a very difficult job.0

And have to deal with far too many frivolous complaints0 -
I dont know why people moan at the Police. They do an amazingly difficult job, get abuse all the time from the hoards of lowlifes that habit our country, and are constantly understaffed.
I used to get stopped quite a bit when I was a lot younger, but it never bothered me. Rather they stop and search too many, rather than one needless stabbing death.0 -

I have to say, I have only had good experience with the police.
a few years back, some chavs were throwing big rocks (left by b'ham council!) at my mini. They caved the windscreen in, wrecked the bumper, dinks all over the thing. I was in alone and watched them do it while on the phone to police. They told me to now be visable and they would send round an unmarked car. literally 2 minutes later all 4 were arrested. 1 month later all charged and I had a full pay out from them of 1800 to repair all damages. Police are amazing people, and yes, you can get a couple of rogue ones, but if your not doing anything dodgy, you don't have much to worry about!0
