Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good luck everyone.

I haven't decided on my budget yet either, but doesn't look like i'll be seeing hubby this weekend after all.:mad::mad:

I am out for lunch on Thursday, then tea on Friday, so i suppose £25 should cover it.

I'll increase it if anything changes with hubby.

    Have a good weekend LC

I've suppose I've gone over budget this week so please mark me down as RED. I can't tell you by how much because I've confused myself and cheated somewhat. I've always bought things like cookery magazines from the joint account/food budget so it would be easy to say I have come in under budget but then my budget expenditure would read :A:A:A:A:A so need to give it some thought. There have been three visits to the shops this week and lots of little spends where I have whipped out the joint account bank card. All of these add up and the money isn't coming from the money tree.

Can we have more than one budget running alongside each other ??? I was thinking something along the lines of £321.00 for this week (overall) broken down as follows: -

    £10.00 = Misc
    £25.00 = eating out
    £20.00 = entertainment (kindle books/cross stitch/puzzle books/stationery)
    £10.00 - travel
    £20.00 = clothes
    £70.00 = food
    £5.00 = car park
    £51.00 = slimming world
    £100.00 = new glasses
    £10.00 = newspapers/magazines

Seeing in black and white - feels  hopefully can spend as little as possible :T

  • Think i was over budget by £1 last week. So this week i will budget £15 :)

    £5.00 = car park
    £51.00 = slimming world

  • Not spent anything from my weekly cash budget as I'm still in my jammies!

I have used up lots of my monthly entertainment budget today though. (I allow £50 a month) 16 quid on music and 10 on some kindle books so stil got 24 to last the next 2 weeks :)

Ended on £62.60/£40.00 last week  quite annoyed with myself!!

I'm aiming for £20.00 this week, I currently have no evening plans so I NEED to stick to this - might need to think of a way to booby trap my purse :p
