Thanks for that pearl123. I'm glad you find it amusing. I can only imagine where you live! It's not the fish tanks that are the problem it's the fact he's slowly but surely covering the front elevation of the house is ridiculous pictures, and personally I don't see why the neighbours should have to firstly look out onto this hideous house and also why they should struggle to sell their houses because of one over the top queer ticket.

One man's ridiculous is another's wonderful. It's his house at the end of the day and, unless he's doing something offensive or dangerous, it's his choice how he decorates it.

It can be a problem if people don't look after their homes - there's nothing like a burnt out Cortina and a couple of broken sofas in the front garden to say 'people don't care about this neighbourhood'. But is this really the case here? Really, truly? It's some pictures and a couple of fish tanks. Is there actually any evidence that people will 'struggle to sell their houses'?

It sounds a storm in a teacup tbh. Perhaps it would be nicer to get to know this guy rather than decide he's the scourge of the neighbourhood.

Thanks for that pearl123. Shame you don't have any constructive advice. I'm pleased it amuses you, I can only imagine the kind of neighbourhood you must live in if this seems like nothing. It's not the fish tanks that are the problem it's the fact that this man seems to be slowly but surely covering the front elevation of the house in strange pictures.

    Define 'strange'.

If he's that weird, perhaps he need some medical support rather than condemnation from people obsessed with little more than the value of their homes.

Fish tanks in the garden? Ever heard of overground ponds???

And as for photos in frames - why not ...or would you prefer to be surrounded by rotting cars/bikes/loads of scaffold planks and poles and goodness-knows-what-else covered by tarpaulins? That is what friends have to look across at!

There is no need to get so rude and personal with pearl123. I went back and re-read how pearl responded to you to try and fathom what prompted you to react the way you have. All she did was to give her view and perspective on the situation.

To be fair to pearl, in your first post you said that the neighbour had hung photo frames with pictures. Now you are saying the front elevation of the house is being covered in strange pictures. You contradict yourself. If we aren't given a clear view of what is going on then we cant help you.

People will also be put off giving advice if they think you are going to mock them!

Just had a thought - is the house in Bristol? Maybe it belongs to Banksy (the celebrated graffiti artist)!!

Aren't you getting a little over-excited about a house that's not even next to you?! You're posting on behalf of a friend so I guess we can assume that you don't have to look at this house anyway!

Seriously, life's too short to worry about the neighbours' houses, and life's waaaay too short to worry about your friends' neighbours' houses :D

I thought the point of this website was to give people constructive advice not to take the mick? Why would people comment on something just to give a pointless opinion.

People have taken the time to give you lots of help and constructive advice. This is an adult forum where everyone has different view points and perspectives.

Just because everyone has not said what you want to hear does not mean that what they wrote was a pointless opinion or that they were taking the mick. As with any advice given you take what is useful and disregard what is not. In real life would you tell someone that their opinion was pointless and not constructive if they didn't see things your way? :D

Is that not what you have done? Not your house ...did your friend ask you to comment/ask on this website?
