Afternoon! If I do any more cleaning my hands will resemble prunes. Happily reporting today is another NSD. I shall probably need a few bits & pieces tomorrow but that won't come to much. Tea tonight is toad in the hole with beans - an old favourite. Take care, all.

*Coxy* I am so glad that the camp out went well. Sorry to hear about the migraine, hope you are feeling a bit better now.
*PG* well done on getting through the dentist ordeal. I am glad I am not the only one who reacts to a needle like that. Last time I had to have work done I had to go to the teaching hospital and they knocked me out to do it.
£5 spent in the fruit and veg shop today including a bag of cauli and broccoli, a bag of blackberries and a bag of grapes all for 60p a bag.
Last night dinner was beef (from the LO from FIL) and roasted potatoes and veg.
Tonight was cauli and broc cheese with bacon bits.
So 2 very cheap dinners.
I have been making my own GF bread and ordinary bread the last couple of days which has help with the moneysaving but I am running out of flour now, got enough for a couple of more loaves each. Then it can be packed away and will be back to buying it.
Think I will make an apple and blackberry pie with the cheap blackberries.
Only 5 more weeks to go before we fly out
ETA: just got the grapes out to use for pudding and they have gone musty, so they had to go in the compost binChocolate icecream was had instead

Updated sig with small spend - OH bought some mango chutney for the veggie curry he made for dinner (£1.50). I don't really approve, but after we had a full on argument yesterday over him throwing out a portion of mince and tatties that was still good for a day or two, I've resolved to be less full on about the GC to him. He seems to think I might be a bit over enthusiastic about the whole thing and I need to remember that shouting at him for wasting food isn't actually selling the whole idea very well

Haven't posted for a few days, but wanted to try tonight, I'm shattered, really long day, and walked 6 miles with the dog.
I've spent 68p on bread and juice today, but thats all!
Thankyou everyone for the encouraging words since my last post, I was able to read them and I do appreciate itIt makes me feel like I'm not failing completely! I am doing well, just not as well as I'd like, although I do always set myself hard goals.
Going to try and catch up more tomorrow when I'm less tiredxx

Came on to post a couple of spends and realised that it is the last day of my GC month and as I am curled up on the sofa and about to go to bed I won't be spending anymore money.
My total is still appallingly high at £600.52 but is an an improvement on the previous months £740. This month I am setting a budget of £380 for all groceries. I know huge drops are usually hard to achieve but I have to hit it as there is no spare money in my budget to spend if I go over.
Neither of us is drinking this month so that is a fair whack saved and I have quite a bit in. Each week I need to plan my shopping as though it is the last week of the month and I'm skint rather than do it without thinking because the pot is full again. I can manage like this when I have to I just need to get in the habit of doing it every week.
We has some absoloutley vile gammon from Mr A last night, full of gristle, even DH said it was awful and he will eat just about anything. I would rather have a smaller but better quality portion of meat so will go back to M&S I think.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%

The very idea. Just because I talk about savings and bargains a bit more than I used to. I also got v cross  when he bought the blue and white packet of paracetamol caplets from B00ts instead of the red and white packet. He said it was because caplets are easier to swallow. I pointed at the word "caplets" on the red and white packet. "There's more in the blue pack" - yes, there are 32 for 69p versus 16 for 16 p. That's when the obsession suggestion came out. I think it's because my arithmetic is clearly better then his....:rotfl::whistle:
We are away for a weekend with friends from tomorrow evening (and it's our wedding anniversary on Saturday) I will play nice

Big spends over the last 2 days. I thought it would be easier to pick bits up from Mr W on the way home. It obviously means I succumb to temptation though
Anyway yesterday I spent £19.99 on 2 packs of mussels in white wine sauce (on offer, but still expensive when I think about it), pork fillet, squash, cheddar, lettuce and tomatoes.
Tonight £4.39 was spent on red chillis, spring onions, pasta, milk and um...sticky toffee puddings
Tonight I had the mussels with spring onions and tagliatelle. Tomorrow will be omelette with chilli and coriander with salad. Have everything in, plus 2 more bagels for tomorrow for lunch and cereal for breakfast.
Off to update signature...Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

Good morning, peeps:)
Feeling pretty chuffed about the GC this week.
First time I have ever used a portion of a future week's budget to buy opportune bargains. Even though £20 had already been used before the week began, I have still achieved the target:T :A
Same again for next week. £20 has already been used up which leaves me with £10 so I will reset the signature tonight.
Might have a family or 2 coming back ours later after a field trip so I have stretched and bulked out a 400g of cheap mince to make 2 cottage pie trays just in case. If they are not used up today we will freeze one.
I will need some more cereal tomorrow (value wheat biscuits) ) and probably get the Lidl weekend offer sausages plus potatoes and milk. That is all we need though so hopefully still on target for next week too.....
Have a fab n frugaltastic day, peeps :j:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A
