How much more in tax are YOU willing to pay to avoid immigration?

So you'd be happy to see NI double, on top of all the other tax you pay, and with a shrinking economy?
Just to avoid immigration?

Wow.....
As I said, you'd need to pluck figures out of thin air. Which you have done, and then told me what I'm thinking.
Pointless discussion Hamish. This entire thread is set up, as an offshoot of another thread, with the sole intention of railroading through the use of loaded questions. This way, you can win the argument as you'll simply ask questions which are unanswerable, and therefore you take it upon yourself to tell others what they think.
You may think you've won the argument, but you haven't.
All I said was whatever it neccesary and the same as everyone else. If thats what is necesary, thats whats necesary. Nothing I can do about it, and asking people "how much do you want to pay" is a stupid question in the first place, as it's always "as little as possible".0 -
Why is increased immigration (with all the associated rights, benefits etc) required?
Why not just use foreign labour as a when required. There are many people from around the world who would be happy to do the work for a decent wage, but with the UK state having no responsibility beyond the worker.0 -

Oh, c'mon Dev, tell him he's won.
That's all he's interested in.
Just tell him he's won, and then he might !!!! off and leave us all alone for a few hours, before he feels another need to get his "fix" of winning a pointless argument on a faceless forum.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

Happy with that solution.
The important thing is to rebalance the population so that the ratio of workers to pensioners remains the same or improves.
It makes no difference if those people are here for a few years or permanently, so long as that ratio does not worsen.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Hamish, you win.0

There is no argument to win here.
Either you want to avoid immigration at any cost or you're willing to accept immigration to avoid the increased costs of an aging population falling disproportionately on the fewer workers remaining.
That's the only choice.

Oh right, well then you definately win if you boil it down to those two extremes.0 -

Nothing. The 'typical' British attitude towards immigrants is one of a long list of things I find distasteful about living here. If people want to cut immigration further they can find a way to fund it themselves and I'll find somewhere else to live

Well said.
And the people doing the same to avoid punitive taxation will be the smart, young, globally-mobile professionals that we can least afford to lose.
