No worries Kaydee, this is a problem that many people have.
Go back and sign up using your mobile number, once you get the confirmation email you can go in and add your landline number

This is quite a common problem with them.Just register a mobile phone no with 1899 to start. Then add the landline after the registration has been accepted. This normally does the trick.
If you havent got a mobile no use someone else,s or make one up, and delete it once you have your landline on board.
Amended (Sorry EdinburghGlass our posts crossed but i have left mine on in case Kaydee doesnt have a mobile).PF.0 -

Cheers.

May I check I understand the current best option for cheapest calls:
I stay with One-Tel but choose the Weekend/Evening £4 package
I use the cheap providers like 1899 etc., for Daytime and Mobile calls
I do not use my BT Together option 1 except perhaps non-geographic ( that bit irritates as I am paying for it but giving One-Tel £4 per month)
I also continue with my well respected call up ISP BT Yahoo Surftime 24/7 which costs me £13.98 per month and am reluctant to leave

I would suggest the easiest way for you, unless you really make a lot of calls in the evenings, is to call Onetel and stop the monthly charge package and just have the free calls at the w/end, called StandardUKTalk. This gives you free calls midnight Friday to midnight Sunday.
Then use 18866 at 2p a call for your daytime and evening calls through the week as at the moment you are paying £4 a month for these calls even if you don't make them. You would need to be making more than 200 calls a month to make this worth while.
I take it you are on dial up, you could try looking about for broadband now as the prices are coming down all the time and it can be had for around £15 a month nowadays.

The £4 you will pay One Tel is the equivalent of 200 01/02 calls with 18866 that works out over just 6 a day.Do you make that number of calls normally. Why not
1.Use the Onetel free weekend call package, and benefit from the free calls at weekend.and the free DQ service at all times.
2.Use 18866 for your peak and evening landline calls, and weekend mobile calls.
3.Use https://www.dialabroad.co.uk for your peak and evening mobile calls.Only 5p a minute.
4.Use the BT 1280 overide service to route your 0844/045/0870 calls.
5.Carry on with the ISP you like.PF.0 -
If I change my line rental from BT to IT, can I continue to use 18866 to make most of my calls?0

No its in there T&C that if you take there line rental you must put all your voice calls over there network. If you dont they have the options of.Barring the access code.Charging you higher rental.Or disconnecting you.
BT are the only provider that has to provide access to 18866 type numbers.Thats one of the reasons why people are loathe to go to these cheap line rental providers at the mo,because the small savings to be made dont outweigh the benefits.PF.0 -
I'm with Telewest and dial 18866's 08081707788 or 08081701701 for cheap calls but today, 4 July, recorded messages told me neither number was recognised. Have they gone or changed their numbers, I looked on the site but no info.0
